I can feel a double coming on. Glory glory.....

With close to 100,000 covid 19 deaths should not the EPL season be cancelled? Funny how no one is talking about canceling the EPL season, but they love to scream cancel Tokyo 2020? I wonder why.

@ Redbear

Manchester United is based in one country whereas the Olympic Games will require 10s of thousands of people from multiple countries arriving on your doorstep with maybe multiple infections and strains landing in your country. Do you see any difference or are you just....

@Redbear. There are almost zero comparisons as @Starbucks has pointed out. So, maybe you can elaborate on your comment 'I wonder why' Discuss.

@zichi - I wanted to watch, but had to work today. Saw the highlights this morning - clearly missed a great game.

and yet the EPL goes on with 100,000 deaths. Why? Look at the picture, why could not Tokyo do exactly the same thing. I don't see thousands of fans in the seats. Why are sporting events still be held in UK. Are you telling thousands were not watching the match on the tv drinking beer with their friends. Do you see the double standard?

@ Redbear

You still have sporting events going on in Japan. I'm talking about importing possible virus strains into Japan not to mention those athletes that return home maybe bringing viruses with them. Australia normally sends a team of 600 with maybe a couple of hundred officials. Who is going to pay for their quarantine on return. I know I don't want to pay for it.

Domestic Sport. The players are subject to even stricter rules than the general population - for whom life is very restricted as it is. Of course lockdown rules are being broken and yes, for sure there will be small gatherings at peoples homes on the quiet. Do you really expect 100% compliance? But, no, I do not see a double standard. If you were aware of 'Project Restart' that got the PL going last year to finish the 2019-202 season you would be aware of the massive amount of work that has gone into playing these games, albeit behind closed doors.

Some games HAVE been postponed due to COVID and I'm sure there will be some more. There is little pleasure to life in Europe right now, Sport being one of the things that will keep many sane - especially during the winter.

The Olympics, on the other hand would involve flying such a large amount of people in under god knows what conditions/quarantine. Lets imagine the current predicament that is facing Tennis Australia right now - with a LOT less people than would be involved with the Olympics, even with NO crowd.

Zichi - It wasn't to do with the mass testing - Tier 2 areas were allowed 2000 fans. Brighton and Southampton (and I believe SOME London Clubs) also hosted fans for a couple of games pre Christmas. Hopefully the last few games of the season can return to something similar. Did make all the difference.
