It was 5-4, as mentioned in the article. It was 3-2 after Ohtani hit the homer.

The guy's season is so insane now that him not hitting a home run in a game is probably more newsworthy than him hitting one is!

32 home runs in 81 games, that works out to 64 homers in a full season if he can keep that pace up. Oh and yeah he's been pitching pretty well too.

If he could hit 62, it would mark the first time a non-steroid user broke Maris's record of 61. McGwire, Sosa, Bonds were all admittedly on the juice.

and Canseco too.

Ohtani is a metaphor for Japan. Big, powerful, well educated and has fire in the belly.

Reincarnation of Babe Ruth, without the bad habits. With the good grace & manner that is a deep element of Japanese culture. Talent and discipline. One of the best, and if he continues his path one of the greatest ever.

Still say the name is spelled wrong the true spelling is 大谷. Romantized it is O ta ni like it is pronounced.

Meh, I'm on the fence about this one. As the 大 is おお rather than お, transliterating it as 'Oh' pushes English speakers towards that longer o, as well as specifying it as a long o (ō) sound, rather than the short aw sound that native English speakers might be prone to read.

That said, were I to transliterate it, I'd do 'Otani'. Which is why I see it both ways.

People without a full understanding of baseball do not totally appreciate what Ohtani is doing. Starting pitchers need strict rest to be able to perform every 5 days. Instead of resting Ohtani is going out and playing nearly every day and batting and stealing bases as well as anybody in the league. Is almost like there are 2 of him.

Hope he can keep this incredible season going and not burn out. Maybe a little bit of rest in the next month would be a good idea
