Fittingly, Hashimoto flanked by virile young athletes.

She’s live now saying (NHK translation):Mori is a special person and was my mentor.”
Hopefully, she will have her own ideas and do what she can to salvage ‘the mess’. Good luck.

I wish to offer Seiko Hashimoto, Tokyo Olympic President all success.
For the sake of the Country and People.

So predictable. So disingenuous. The codgers will still be calling the shots, face saving to IOC complete. The sooner this fiasco is over, the better.

Whether Takahashi “did not feel harassed” is a moot point. He was inebriated, so he did not have the capacity to consent to Hashimoto’s advances. And Hashimoto, herself, claimed afterward that she was ashamed of her behavior.

A plastic decision made by talking heads appointing dolls for political purposes....I see...
Well she is 200% more fitting to be head of Olympics than Mori IMO. But knowing Japan, she is simply a token that the men are reluctantly putting forward (since they unwittingly cut off their heads to spite their faces).

Curious how well this would pass the smell test in the era of #MeToo.
And let's not forget why the position of Tokyo Olympic Committee President was vacant........

It’ll be weird for the president not to speak during meetings!!
Only joking... those oyajis seats will be a little less comfortable now.

And it’s sad that this will all be for nothing, as the games will almost certainly be canceled. However, nice political move Japan! All eyes on you :)

The proof of the pudding us in the eating.

3500 staff??? The oyaji-maru seemed doomed from the start. Science must prevail and the games cancelled so she'll be used to do that and keep the oyaji club intact

She immediately issued the government approved statement saying, "Blah, blah, blah..."

Her decision, her career. She's old enough to know better and young enough to do it again. So who cares? Really?

well, she was already a cabinet member... is this a step up? more high-profile I suppose, but whether or not the 5-ringed-circus happens this year... how will she stand after August I wonder.

Good reporting!
