Mannarino slipped at the same spot as Serena and had to retire too, while playing well against Federer
Rubber cleats?

I know grass has a long tradition and is visually classy, but it is a horrible surface, especially when in wet weather. I watched just Djoko's match the day before, and both players slipped and fell a few times, fortunately without injury. Two players out with injury in the first round due to slippery grass is a bit too much in my opinion, and with all the modern technology, something could and should be done. Interestingly, Kyrgios was complaining that the grass is very slow, so probably they are doing something.
And talking of him, Kyrgios is locked in a great battle with Humpert, 3-3 in the fifth when play was suspended.
Paire is a very entertaining player when in a good mood, unfortunately lately he went the way of Tomic the Tank Engine.
Happy Day
Who cares? Time to move on. Osaka will be a much better representative of women’s tennis.

Great news! Won't be seeing either Serena or Naomi for the next two weeks.

Perhaps time for her to retire and bow out gracefully.

Serena, time to retire. This is Osaka's time - when she returns, will own the tour.
As for Federer, still top rank. Though this season may be the last.
Fighto!
Time for Serena to retire. I still cant forgive her for trying to upstage Naomi-chans first Major win a couple years ago, with her tantrums.
My thoughts exactly. She would win Wimbledon if she was there. Will break every record Serena has set. Time for the sick, parasite media to stop attacking her and just let her play.

And many players complain that the grass on the central court is very slippery and dangerous:

It's her right leg that's injured, which was already heavily taped at the start
It seems she already has something wrong with her right leg, and when she slipped, that made it worse
Her right leg is probably another reason why she decided not to go to the Tokyo Olympics
Right now, that's not a safe bet. Naomi Osaka's best finish at Wimbledon is only the 3rd round (the same as the French Open) with just a 4W-3L record (French Open 7W-4L)
She hasn't yet proven her mettle in the grass of Wimbledon or the clay of French Open. Until she proves that she can handle those surfaces, she'll be limited to hard court successes
