Australia always gets their infrastructure for international events built well on time. The Sydney 2000 main stadium was built and being used 18 months before the Games, as were many other facilities.

Good to see they did not attempt to refurbish the decaying old GABBA cricket ground as the main stadium. It will be taken down, and after the Games, Cricket Australia and the AFL will have a great new 60,000 seater.
