The Brave Blossoms have a difficult pool. France and New Zealand should be too difficult for them. They'll be looking to beat Tonga and Canada. If Kirwin manages to fix their tight forward's body position issues, they'll have a good platform.

Wins against Canada and Tonga would be sensational but to gain some crede. there has to be no floggings of 60 or more against NZ or France...who look to be the finalists.

Would be good to see Japan take a couple of scalps this time Tonga is a real possibility for one and one more against those canucks could be on the cards.

No way will they even get close to NZ but an upset of the french would be fantastic and almost as good as winning the world cup.

I like John Kirwan - champion player and doing good things with Japan. But that draw is a killer. The All Blacks could conceivably put 100 on Japan if they are in that sort of mood - but I doubt they will put 145 points on them like in the '95 World Cup! They could definitely beat Canada - but the problem is Tonga - those boys will have at least half the stadium full of their mob, so it will be like a home game.

BTW - I'm hoping the All Blacks win this World Cup and give their people a little joy after the tragedy. Even as an Aussie, I'd rather see the Blacks raise the cup.
