There are so many excellent golfers these days! Dunno of any other sport where 25-30 guys/teams are potential winners at the start of a tourney ( I mean at a major).
Matsuyama's been one the most consistent player for a while now and thought it was his day when he birdied 15 to get 1 behind Thomas. Very small margin for error in golf though. He was visibly and understandably upset after he'd completed his round, really hope he'll win one sooner rather than later.

"I knew know matter what my game was at I had to be patient," Thomas said.
This sentence gave me a real headache.

Other reports quote this differently.
"I kind of acted like a child and threw a little tantrum over there, and then all of a sudden it went in, so I didn’t look so dumb."

Matsuyama has a lot of talent. But to score better, I suggest he become fearless with his putting. He lags his putts too often. Also, it seems that his caddie is only there to carry his bag, to converse in his native tongue and to give him yardage to holes. Matsuyama needs a caddie who has knowledge about PGA courses and greens and to advise on club selection and targets. That advice can come only from an experienced PGA caddie. For example, if a PGA player joined the JPGA circuit in Japan, how do you think he would fare if he brought his PGA caddie to play the tour?
Good luck Matsuyama.

Was really pulling for Matsuyama and was disappointed that he did not have a better final round. Someone to keep an eye on in the years to come.
