He is a fighter! He will not surrender his arm to pain unless his arm completely falls off. That is the Japanese mindset

all too common for Japanese pitchers, high school baseball needs to change its mindset, overusing their pitchers just leads to shorter careers later in life.

You got that right.

“At the 2018 tournament, Kosei Yoshida led Kanaashi Agricultural High School to the championship game behind 881 pitches over 50 innings in six outings, all in the span of two weeks.

I fear it might be another case of a great pitcher doing to much pitching when their arms were not ready for it, and it shortens their careers! Let's hope he can return from this and be as dominant as he was before.

Oh a Japanese pitcher with an injury in his throwing arm. Surprise surprise.

MLB teams must soon figure out that these pitching stars have been overworked in their younger days. They are a short term investment at best. Nomo the only notable exception.

His best days are behind him with those injuries.

Oh well at least he gave fans some excitement no matter how briefly.

Only Nomo was a stud? Not sure how Ma-kun is faring this year, but Maeda and Darvish are consistently good despite some setbacks over the years. Maeda went from a reduced reliever role @ LAD to being the ace starter of the Twins pitching staff. Darvish got back in the groove with the Cubs last year and seems to be following through again in 2020. His stat line looked wonky with a record number of no decisions.

Poor kid. Ganbatte Shohei. You can do it! I must be getting soft in my old age, brought a tear to my eye.

He is a fighter! He will not surrender his arm to pain unless his arm completely falls off. That is the Japanese mindset. However, Shohei should speak to Ichiro and deeply reflect on his life and career. He should think about his team and not about his personal ambitions to be the Japanese Babe Ruth. Just to make the MLB is very difficult. To be a pitcher AND and hitter is not even statistically possible. Shohei should count his blessings and stick to hitting. He can learn from the best...Mike Trout!
