Australia up 11 places. Well done boys.

Who cares on FIFA ranking if Argentina won his 3rd Cup in 36 years .. being 10th and still be the Champions worth x10 more! Very happy for Messi and the Team. Japan will start growing although requires more personality to fight in the knock out stages, good experience on 2022 and looking forward for future success too.

Spectacular seeing the US move up in ranks.

What' a team got to do to get some respect around here?

Indeed.

Many thought they wouldn’t qualify for this tournament. Most thought they didn’t have a chance of getting out of a tough group but did and gave the eventual champions a decent game in the knockout stages.

All this with very limited quality.

Excellent stuff.

The United States at No. 13 is the best of the CONCACAF region teams, rising three places after advancing to the round of 16.

Way to go USA. After stifling England at their own game.

The US will be the team to watch at the next WC.

The USMNT is the 13th. The USWNT is 1st.

England stays at 5th.

No CONCACAF side has ever won the World Cup. The only team one of their sides reached the final four was in 1930 when the United States finished third.

Next year the women's WC. England is 4th and will go into the competition with a strong team. Hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The methodology of the FIFA rankings is open to question but they are a useful guide.

Belgium at 4 sounds a bit high. Kevin de Bruyne would probably agree.

Kind of a tease to England to rank them again at 5; only to set them up again for disappointment.

FIFA ranking is decided by points earned.
