Any team could play beautiful football if they ignored the fact that there was another team on the pitch and didn't try to score. As for this guy, has anyone seen him play? I'd never heard of him until this news came out. I'd love to see how he does in the high school championship.

Oh, so now the newspapers/media will be saturated with Arsenal news even when the kid isn't even on the bench, then evaporate when he moves back to a Japanese club in a year or so because he doesn't get a start, like that overrated joke Inamoto.

Inamoto: played for Arsenal & Fulham in the Premier League; played for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, Galatasaray in the Turkish superliga and scored for Japan in the World Cup on home soil. Not bad for an "overrated joke"

I'm not an Arsenal fan but Miyaichi is at one of the best clubs in the world for developing young talent. Just look at some of the young players that Wenger has helped develop: Fabregas, Kieran Gibbs, Denilson, Alex Song, Wilshere, Carlos Vela, Robin Van Persie. Arsenal bought most of these players at a young age and Wenger has schooled them in the way of bright, one touch attacking football- they way the game should be played. Even if you don't like Arsenal, you can't ignore the fact that they play some beautiful football.

I've only seen snippets of Miyaichi, but his technique looks superb, has quick feet and seems to be able to pick a pass very quickly. If Miyaichi keeps his head down and learns from those around him, then there is no reason why he can't become successful, despite what some of the predictable doom-mongers on here might say.

You obviously weren't in Japan while he was "playing" at those clubs (if you can call sitting on the bench of the reserve team "playing"), because the J-media blew him up like he was the new George Best or something. Not saying he was a useless player, I'm just saying that he was overrated to hell and back by the Japanese media.

Hope Miyachi is a lot better though.

Inamoto is probably the wrong comparison to be making. Kagawa and his success for Dortmund this year is more relevant than the generation of the '02 World cup team. The European teams are thinking that there may be something there in the young generation. There was expected to be a big boost for Japanese soccer after the World Cup was held here and it didn't really happen, but maybe it just took time for it to kick in and the new generation gets it more than previous ones. Anyways, Kagawa and also Suzuki have maybe opened some eyes, and the European teams are now more interested in Japanese players. We'll see how it goes.

Though I'm a big Arsenal fan, I think I have to agree with oikawa on this one. Watching Arsenal NOT score goals over the last few years has just become annoying. Give me Barcelona any day.

Guys, Inamoto didn't play for Arsenal in the lague, not once I recall. The fizzy pop coca cola cup yeah, friendlies yeah, but not once where it counted.
