The only reason being that there are no major television sponsors that can affect their scheduling.
Believe me, if the Asian games organizing committee were to get say a billion or two for broadcasting rights to the games, I am damn sure we would be hearing about these games being held in the exact time as the current ones.

Now, while I understand that the prefectural Governor and the city Mayor both needed to represent, how do you explain naming Aichi and Nagoya as "co-hosts", since Nagoya is in Aichi? I assume this means they'll be held mostly in Nagoya, but also in other parts of Aichi?

thinks about it
I suppose it's mostly about money. If the city and the prefecture are considered separate entities, which they are for purposes of govt. support., then they get loads more cash to play with for these games.

Because typically speaking these games are hosted by one city, even though they are held in a state or prefecture.
By both jointly hosting, it means that the financial burdens will be shared and it will avoid the BS that Tokyo and the national government went through in hosting the 2020 Olympics.
The national government wanted Tokyo to carry an over whelming portion of the burden of the costs for the Olympics even though it was the national government that pushed for it with the bid, without really determining the breakdown of costs between them prior to the bid being awarded.

I with they' do that with summertime school athletics.

That's a good plan. This gives the planners flexibility to determine what would be in Nagoya and what other surrounding areas can contribute.
Must be pretty clear by now that the Tokyo 2020 summer date is going to be a disaster and they didn't want anything to do with that comparison.
However 2026 is a long way off and with the escalating climate change increasing and increasing even the fall by then may become too hot. Countries in Asia may be unable to attend due to local food shortages and thus no athlete training.
I wonder if all these games and Olympics will become a single mixed event, or end completely due to general lack of food (10% drop in yield with every +1C) or even starvation
Get some land, get used to potatoes and sweet potatoes. Playtime is over

Nagoya is in Aichi

And Tokyo is in Japan? What's your point? Or don't you read comments prior to posting?

It's the local government and city's decision, not central government; that's why it is sensible!
