What happened to the thought to cancel the para olympics and turn the village into medical wards for covid patients?

The Olympic was a great success. Covid-19 was insignificant and Japanese athletes did well. As a result, the 64% of Japanese people supported the events. Hopefully the success continues.

It was a great idea, putting the needs of the many over those of the IOC and a handful of athletes, which is probably why it was ignored.
