Not really clear from this story why this was a problem, nor was it clear why he had to resign. If anything, they investigated and found "...the interaction was consensual, private, occurred on the one occasion only, was between mature adults and was not repeated." So again, what's the problem here?

How stupid.

I think he was stumped because he sent a photo of his "middle stump", that was crossing the boundry and put him on a sticky wicket.

He took it a bit far when he sent her pics of his cock & balls. She drew the lime at that it seems.

CA wants to appoint Steve Smith as captain before the Ashes I suppose, that is why they asked Tim Paine to resign.

Smith is 1000-1, he's had his day and wasnt a great leader. Far too much baggage now.

Patty Cummins is the man who will lead the Baggy Greens out in 19 days. Put your house on it.

Slow news day…..

for any naive yanks out there - the position of captain of the national cricket team is probably the most prestigious position in the country, only behind the Prime Minister.

So it is big news indeed

The bat in the top photo gives a hint at what got Paine into trouble. What is it with Australian cricket captains sabotaging their careers?

His career is in Ashes (or it was).

Stupidphone! The best thing that you can do is to throw it away...!

Very true, although I think that Robert Pearce does actually live in Australia

Hehe, he’s obviously not a cricket fan then

Australian cricket captains have developed a crying habit.

Smith captains a team of one- himself. At Lords when he was ko'd, he wanted to resume to get his name on the honour board. Cummins has the ability and temperament, whilst the rest have egos to satisfy.

It would not have looked good for them to appoint someone involved in sandpapergate as captain, but now that Paine has been revealed to be involved in his own indiscretions it would seem that they have no other choice.

Got it @tooheysnew 7:17pm.- Tiger Woods was such a “goat” back in 2009-2010 when he was done in, for a while, by such texting stupidity. The other thing in common: both had/have extremely beautiful wives.
