So the upshot of that is there will now be a dead rubber between Kuwait and Oman in the final group game. Has international tournament football ever thrown up a less interesting match? How are they getting people to attend these games?

While it's fun to watch to an extent, the Asian Cup is such a NON tournament! There is literally NO competition outside of the three top teams: Australia, Japan, and South Korea. Sure, one of the other teams MIGHT get lucky and score a few goals or even win a game, but they are seriously weak competitors, as is the Asian group on the whole. The Australia/South Korea game will be fun, despite both teams already qualifying. And assuming Japan gets through it'll be fun to see them play one of the other teams (at least) as well.

Perhaps so Smith, but remember that Iraq won against the odds in 2007 so you never know. Also 3 time champions Saudi Arabia were beaten by China in their first match which was a bit of an upset. Also I think Iran have a good chance. Football is not always so predictable so let's hope for a few shocks - not at Japan's expense though!
