Big Artie, he was a fantastic player. I remember him playing for Balmain, and when he played for Parramatta for Reserves in the Grand Final. Nad when he jobbed his team-mate Mick Cronin in the first State of Origin. Great memories.

Will never be a better front rower than him..a legend and true lover of the game..

Proves how great he was by JT adding the story. Never have i seen a front row forward off load as many passes on their way down to the ground as big artie used to pull off. Towards the end of his career he would off load passes without anyone knowing he had done so. A great player with very deceptive speed for such a big bloke. A real down to earth bloke to boot. Sadly missed by all league fans and players.

Rest in Peace Big Artie. A true legend of the great game - an "Immortal". Used to be called "half-a-game Artie" late on in his illustrious career - he struggled at the end. But he was the very first of the ball-playing forwards. These days, in his footsteps, it isn't unusual to see props with great ball skills. Thanks for playing for my club - Parramatta - for a season. Well played, great fella.

I used to hate rugby when I was kid, and it was pretty hard at times as I come from Queensland!! But when I was growing up this guy was just huge (and I dont only mean physically), he was everywhere, he had quite an influence on the state. He was such a legend. And now that hes gone ... I miss him. As the old saying goes, you never knew what you had till it`s gone.
