Blood transfusions hide a multitude of sins.

They're all at it.

The simple fact is the dopers are always one step ahead of the testers, that's why test samples are kept for years. As new tests develop uncovering the cheats, old samples will get checked for these methods and in armstrong's case found out.

As various news articles point out losing his titles is a small price to pay - the lesser evil, losing his sponsors and backing for his charities would be far worse.

Actually, he failed a couple that the UCI covered up. His team did as well

some details here http://m.guardian.co.uk/ms/p/gnm/op/sjVwYnSQlSnmuj41C1_S3Xg/view.m?id=15&gid=sport/2012/aug/26/lance-armstrong-doping-whistleblowers&cat=sport

kwbrow2: Actually, he failed a couple that the UCI covered up. His team did as well. It's amazing the lengths people will go to defend people who essentially admit they've done it (and have been ratted out by teammates) but will go on to defend upset coaches who claim Chinese swimmers or Jamaican runners are doping when there is zero evidence, unlike with Armstrong.

followed the rules in place at the time of his Tour de France victories. I don't see how it fair to take anything away from lance if he played by the rules!

Paying off the UCI is hardly playing by the rules.

Yes he played the system and benefited by being part of a systemic doping organisation and he deserved to be spurned despite his million dollar PR effort.

he passed hundreds of drug tests during his career and followed the rules in place at the time of his Tour de France victories. I don't see how it fair to take anything away from lance if he played by the rules!

Did he juice up for the local bike race as well?
