Simona will be moving further up the rankings if Sunday's match was anything to go by. I was watching some of her earlier matches leading to the final and she looked so strong. To tell the embarrassing truth I still had my doubts about her ability to dislodge Serena, but the latter had an off-day with so many forced errors. Conversely Halep was just about bullet-proof.

Women's tennis just got ratcheted up a notch. Let's see what Naomi can take back from Wimbledon.

Simona Halep, who demolished Serena Williams in under an hour in Saturday's final, moves up three places to number four.

I rather enjoyed the demolition. Halep's within striking distance of the top now - let's see how the rest of the summer goes. I'll be cheering her on!
