Huh? How can you be an All-Star 24 times if you only played for 22 seasons?

In the late 50s, early 60s they used to have two all star games a year.

As a Polish-American, I took a great deal of pride in the accomplishments and character of Stanisław Franciszek Musiał. He was always spoken of with the greatest respect in our Detroit-area community.
(Our son is named "Stanley.")
May he rest in peace.

I grew up in St. Louis and had the privilege of actually seeing Stan Musial play. If he hadn't lost a year of play to military service, I'm sure he would have topped 500 home runs. And he was a thoroughly nice and decent human being. He will be remembered as one of the greatest ballplayers of all time. RIP Stan.
