Ohtani is only earning the league minimum for the next 2 years which is 1/10th the league average of 4.5 million. And who's to say that he didn't make a private contribution during his visit?

The family would've mentioned it to give him thankful kudos, in order to inspire others since they're asking for donations. He has lucrative sponsorships outside his salary.

Btw, I'm not denigrating him at all - he's done more than us. Just saying it's something he can do as well to help more as he's able.

That's nice but I'm not sure that a one-year-old child can understand any of it. Perhaps it's more for his parents' benefit.
