@3RENSHO

the "girl" kamila valieva is a 15 year old school girl and Olympic athlete.

Did you read the article ?

Sad that there is too much politics in the olympics.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Perhaps if people knew whether the girl..."

Girl? What girl?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

She's not using the medication whilst in China or during the Chinese Olympics so why does it even matter !

All sorts of speculation rumors is pathetic.

And She's not suspended anyway.

Perhaps if people knew whether the girl actually needs the medication they wouldn't be so quick to judge negatively.

Apparently She's feeling fine.

Kyushubill...

You wanna see cheating, watch the Chinese.

You wanna see cheating watch the Jamaican sprinters.

Fixed it for you.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

They've been cheating so long, so often, they don'[t know how to do anything else.

Retest the samples. Apply the ban rules, if that is warranted.

No excuses.

Too bad, if true. She is a fantastic skater - once in a generation. It is quite possible that she doesn't know she's been doped by her trainers. That's what I want to believe. At 15, she doesn't have the ability to stand up to her coaches and trainers.

I don't think that all Russians dope, but it appears over 80% do, at least based on history and tests of their highest-ranked athletes. Too bad.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Worse perhaps than the sheer brazeness of Russian athlete doping is that in this case it is a minor who is being doped. She is 15 years old. What kinds of terrible people feed a minor drugs like this?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

BTW.. The Russians are not the biggest cheats in doping

Yes they are. Hands down. They are the only nation that had to be banned for cheating because all of their athletes were doped. Russian = doping. It's a direct correlation. Same as humans breathe air, Russians take dope.

They are not banned for the cheating but the organization of the cheating

Um, organizing cheating is cheating. So yes, they're banned for cheating.

If they were handing out medals for doping Russia wouldn't get a podium

If they were handing out medals for doping, they'd get rid of the podium, and just grab any three Russian athletes from each competition. I suppose you could test them to see if any weren't doped, but that would be a waste of money, as there is no such thing as a non-doped Russia athlete.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

BTW.. The Russians are not the biggest cheats in doping, they are not banned for the cheating but the organization of the cheating. If they were handing out medals for doping Russia wouldn't get a podium, though would be quite competitive.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

They gonna have to decide this soon one way or another - can't have her competing with her status unknown

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Caught using the same drug that previously caused problems, including for Sharapova, for an event she'd win anyway? Something rotten in the state of Denmark.

Firstly, it's not even a PED. The Russian bob sledders who were banned for using it sued and ending up cutting a deal where they would only serve an 8 month suspension which they had already done because WADA wasn't confident of winning.

So if she were going to use a drug but not a PED, why the hell would choose that one other Russians have already been suspended for? This is rotten to the core and the Chinese know it. It's so rotten that one can't but suspect the Russians did it on purpose to cast a shadow of competitors.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I feel sorry for her if it does turn out that she took a banned substance based on the advice of a trusted figure such as a coach. That was what happened to Andrea Raducan, a young Romanian gymnast who won the women's all-around gymnastics gold at the Sydney 2000 games. She took a cold medication containing pseudoephedrine given to her by a coach and ended up losing her gold medal. Her Romanian teammate, Simona Amanai, ended up with the gold.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Word around town is that the russkies are a bunch of goddamn cheats.

Caught using the same drug that previously caused problems, including for Sharapova, for an event she'd win anyway? Something rotten in the state of Denmark.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Rumour is someone spiked her drink or food

LOL. Surely the Russians can come up with something more original than the old classic "my drink/food was spiked!"

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

A lot of people seem to think that this was not intentional. International athletes know by now what is on the banned list. Kick her out and set an example that this will no longer be allowed.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Word around town is that her test just prior to arriving was negative but then positive after arriving. Rumour is someone spiked her drink or food. An American official is being investigated.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

She could easily win even without the drug. Why would ROC do this?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I feel bad for the young girl. She does not need to take drugs to win for sure.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Badge213,  15-year-old Kamila Valieva is a minor, in essence a student, a schoolgirl.

Could Kamila Valieva be complicit to the suggestion of willingly consuming a substance that enhances sporting performance.

If that cannot be proven, then the IOC could well be reviewing the possibility that Russia be again complicit to another state sponsored doping scandal.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The problem is you don't accidentally take trimetazidine, I highly doubt some 15 year old accidentally took it by accident like an aspirin. Her team doctors, trainers etc should know, it's not some unknown drug that caught everyone by surprise, other Olympians have served bans because of it so it's a known prohibited substance.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Russian sports industry has a long history of doping, they may be cheats but they are not usually stupid cheats.

They have a long history of being busted for cheating, so I would have to say they are not that smart about cheating.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Those girls work too hard to take a risk and take doping/drug.

That's what I was thinking. With the fiasco at Sochi, they'd be very very stupid to try that again (so early).

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I doubt that she had something intentionally. I hope everything is clear soon, and she performs her best next week.

Those girls work too hard to take a risk and take doping/drug.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

It was to be expected.

No surpise here.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Marion Jones and Lance Armstrong all over again? Could this really be a positive test like the GB sprinter in last year's Olympic?

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Whatever the fate of 15-year-old Kamila Valieva.

Russia is incapable, unwilling to play or abide by the rules.

Whether it be sport, or international treaty law.

Totally untrustworthy on just about every level.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Kick the Russians out.

Drama, drama, drama..

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

That maybe the case, but most other athletes don't have trouble following them. ROC more than any other committee should dang know it, other players have been banned from using the same drug, not some accident I did t k ow here.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

So nothing has even been confirmed by the IOC or ISU (they didn't answer any questions during the press conference just earlier today) and you're all here spreading rumours like wildfire.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

well somebody think that Russians took too many medals...?

The plot spotters are out early. Which nations are behind this if it's a "let's get the Russians plot? The usual USA is evil crowd, again? Or Russia's partner China?

I'm sorry for this individual who no doubt has worked so hard for so long. But if the med has been banned since 2014 I would assume she and her organization have long been aware. Song below re sins of the family fall on the daughter.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

This doesn't make sense... Trimetazidine wouldn't be of much benefit to a figure skater, long distance speed skater yes, figure skater...No. If they wanted to use it they could have easily gotten a T.U.E. The Russian sports industry has a long history of doping, they may be cheats but they are not usually stupid cheats.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

The strangest part of this story is the sample was taken before the Euro championships a month ago.

And the "news" only broke when the athletes were lining up backstage before appearing for the medal ceremony - literally minutes before.

What it took all that time for the most sophisticated anti-doping agencies in the world to "get it right"???

Kamila may well be guilty or not, but the circumstances has "Hey, Hey, Hey - what's going on?" written all over it.

We'll see.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

You wanna see cheating, watch the Chinese.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

A banned substance is a banned substance, no matter how people spin it saying its not performance enhancing (though you could argue it gives that person an edge) the Russian Olympic out of ANY Olympic committee should know this more than any group.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

The Russian athletes will never stop doping as long as it is pushed on them by their government. It's basically impossible for then to say no. They face too many consequences if they do.

By the way, if you haven't already, give Icarius a watch on Netflix. It's a documentary about the Russian doping scandal, it was really well made and griping.

13 ( +17 / -4 )

Russia has been busted for doping so many times that they can’t even participate as Russia, but have to use the loophole facade of going as the ROC.

This is just endless. ROC should be disqualified and return those medals to the true athletes that are playing by the rules.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

A real shame for her as she is already brilliant.

I have zero expertise in judging her field, but think based on what I have watched and read she is amazing at her craft.

Unfortunately the 'sins of the of the state's organizations fall on some daughters and some of the world's best athletes'.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Why is anyone shocked anymore? Russia always gets busted for doping.

What would be shocking is if they went an entire sporting event with a 100% drug free and clean roster of athletes.

12 ( +17 / -5 )

Gambare Nippon:

Not boycotting, are we?

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

I am shocked!

That China would allow this to be reported.

14 ( +17 / -3 )

Why aren't all samples tested before competition? Sure it costs money, but that's exactly what the IOC has plenty of. The reputational damage from scandals justifies the investment.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Athlete from serial, systemic doping Russia tests positive to a banned drug. No shock whatsoever.

Russia should never, ever have been permitted to continue in the Olympics. Absolute disgrace of an organization the IOC.

Trimetazidine is known to be of assistance in endurance training. If this athlete had an exemption, it would have been clearly documented.

Kick the Russians out.

11 ( +18 / -7 )

A real shame for her as she is already brilliant.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Maybe they need to clean up and rebrand as CROC, the Clean Russian Olympic Committee.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Trimetazidine has been on the World Anti-Doping Agency's list since 2014.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Needs to be a thorough investigation to establish all the facts.

Let not have a trial by media circus.

15 years old and a glowing career at Kamila Valieva finger tips.

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

Awful ROC ...as usual

11 ( +17 / -6 )

Maybe they can ban the ROC and then bring in the S(econdary)ROC, that will show those doping Russians! Just bring in an entirely new team!

10 ( +14 / -4 )

A Russian athlete using a banned substance? Who woulda thunk?

exactly! LOL!

10 ( +18 / -8 )

Eastman - hell yeah - even if they take one by breaking the rules, that one too many already.

0 ( +11 / -11 )

well somebody think that Russians took too many medals...?

highly likely

-21 ( +3 / -24 )

Definitely seems questionable. MAYBE there is a legitimate medical need for it, and I am sure that is the line they will try to argue.

However, it is ultimately still banned and given that it is the same drug they had used before it definitely seems more likely to be a case of doping...again. Definitely seems to be the more obvious explanation by far.

Total shame, because her program was absolutely stellar otherwise.

21 ( +23 / -2 )

A Russian athlete using a banned substance? Who woulda thunk?

24 ( +33 / -9 )

Wtf ROC
