CLJF, as a matter of Interest where do you think the cost for team GB £28 million investment for this 2022 Beijing games came from, it did not come from the Scottish Government that could barely cobble together £2 million to save rinks from closure due to lockdown restrictions in place across Scotland.

It has been the British tax payers that has been indirectly provided the investment funding.

Well done, ladies! A couple days ago you thought you were going home empty, and now you have the Silver. Fujisawa’s 3-point, 2 stone takeout on the last throw against Denmark was the best play of the tournament.

@ CLJF - Tough crowd here! It is the regular Scotland national team, who, along with the mens team, compete as "Team GB" in only the Olympics.

Well done to them all and the Japanese ladies.

Silver is also great, congratulations to the Japanese curling team. Next time they will go for gold and surely get it, because they usually just can play wonderful curling. What was going quite a bit wrong today is, that they persistently forgot where every of the countable points is made, only in the house. The UK team has mastered this and strictly played such way, while the Japanese team a little bit stubbornly made too many beautiful guard stone decorations without any real need, even still while the score was already in favor for the UK team. Those guard stones neither count nor are they any significant obstacle for such good opponents who also can play wonderful and have made it to the final.

However the article author Jimmy Golen descriptive style of writing i find to be inappropriate and inaccurate for the Olympics curling competition.

GB was most consistent start to finish, Japan missed a few KEY shots & paid dearly for it, and once they missed the chance for 2 points with the hammer only getting one, they should have been a bit more aggressive in my opinion, but silver is still a great result for Japan, well done!

Scottish people are considered British, especially when doing positive things such as winning medals or inventing almost everything worth inventing. They are generally separated as being Scots when frying chocolate bars or destroying soccer grounds. On the whole good sorts... most of them. :)

Unfortunately this will be deemed somewhat of a failure, no doubt, by Japanese media; Kind of ironic as they clearly put untenable prior pressure on the Japan team, as they so often do with Japanese athletes in international sporting events, to win.

Congratulations to the British team. No doubt they're relieved to not only clinch the gold, but to also win against the very team that beat them four years ago.

And as for Japan, they did one better than before which is an achievement in itself. They can hold their heads high and be proud that curling has been recognized through their achievements.

No, it won't. Japan has more than proven itself in the women's speed skating. The advantage of being runner up is that you can still be expected to achieve future glory.

It was the most lopsided women's final in Olympic history.

Fujisawa takes risks and goes for it on 4th down. It’s what got them here but the team could be more patient and play a closer game like the men’s final.

Yeah, I figured they lost since I didn't hear a single thing about the game today, or about another Japan gold (bringing the total to four). They did manage to surpass the total medal count of Pyeong Chang, which was a goal, but they had also said they would get more golds than Nagano, including Hanyu's gold and more for Takagi, so I guess we should all throw away the predictions and just say, "good game". I think the Japanese team did extremely well; they got passed most of the world's favorites, and continue to improve their game. I know it is the trend these days for Japanese athletes to ball uncontrollably when they lose (or even just finish a performance, like the male figure skater in the pair skating last night), and obviously they are wiping away tears in the first pic, and being consoled in the second, but they did a great job! And kudos for Britain for the win.

No, it won't. Japan has more than proven itself in the women's speed skating.

And I think you missed my point: Japanese MEDIA- Not the Japanese: the media who've been touting them as de facto gold medallists. THEY won't want to admit they've yet again overplayed their hand, so will more than likely 'Commiserate' on the ladies' team's behalf.

@OreiO　Perhaps I did miss your point. Japanese media lebelled the match as 残念, 頑張った (Too bad, Well done and you did us proud.) I personally don't think there is any negativity at all. Latest news from NHK: "The best result ever." Fujisawa herself: "I felt disappointed but I think we did well." A former Japanese curler, Miyo Ichikawa, said in an interview that she had nothing but respect for the team.

Kudos to Fujisawa, the two Yoshidas and Suzuki.

Since people are mentioning voices, one of the Japanese, I think its the number three Yoshida, has a super high-pitched nasal tone, the kind of affected voice an oldschool Japanese saleswoman uses with customers on the phone. It can be quite piercing. The team get lots of praise and attention for their looks, but the ex-curler NHK had in the studio for analysis was even prettier and looked like she'd just walked out of a high end fashion magazine like Non-No.

I watched the match between Japan and England, it was intresting to watch the skill and tactics, I certainly think that the Japanese ladies can hold there heads high they played very well, and they were gallent losers.
