Good
Those Japanese curling ladies are so beautiful! Curling is my favorite winter Olympic sport thanks to them!

I watched this last night with cake, sake, some chocolates, the ones left from 3 days ago, and some cheese. What a game.
Congratulations.

Congratulations Japan.

That "mogumogu time" thing really makes me cringe.

Their comeback win against Denmark a few days ago was fun to watch. Down 5-7 in the 9th end then scoring three in the final shot in the 10th.

Team JAPAN is wonderful to watch! The Americans and the Swedes had nothing but great things to say about ‘The Girls’ both before and after their wins!

Fujisawa left three on a last stone and the US scored 4 to tie it at 7. Can’t do that in the semi’s and expect to medal.

I don't usually watch curling, but wow that was entertaining to watch! Lot's of calculating and team work!

It would actually be nice to see some replays or YouTube highlights of these games.
i can’t watch these events live, and there’s no where to watch afterwards. Why do they make it so difficult to find video?
You can find 10 million different highlight videos of the Super Bowl.

A commenter on JT mentioned that he thought curling was more of a game than a sport. My wife said the same thing yesterday, as we watched! (Like shuffleboard, bocci, or horseshoes.)
But... be it a game or a sport, it was still fun and exciting to watch! It's always a little weird, though, when we watch an international sporting event when Japan is playing against the US. I root for both, which causes confusion in the feels gland.
It's like those old cartoons where someone has the two halves of his conscience sitting on his shoulders, whispering in his ear. Except mine are wearing little USA and Japan team uniforms.

shogun - yes, it'd be nice to actually be able to see some highlights of olympic events without forking out more money.
NHK free-to-air coverage(not free as we all know) is so limited to mainly local talent.
Trying to see anything on any media for free is nigh impossible. In the 21stC, still photos on the news doesn't quite cut it.
Further proof of the "Olympics-as-the-Fattened-Cow”.
And I will watch those Hokkaido Ladies, hoping they can curl it to the top.

What a great group of classy ladies! We all hope they win the GOLD! Go for it!

Was never reported or in the news here and never heard of it until the Japanese girls
did well winning some matches in Sochi.
By the way, I don't hear about men, Is there men's curling ?
garypen
Yes. There's men's curling. But, if Japan even has a men's team, it's obviously not competitive, or they would be showing it on TV here, as well.

Is this still trendy??
yep, having a rest and eating a snack while discussing game strategy becomes "mogumogu" whatever with this particular team/sport. This word is usually used when teaching small children or old people how to chew well before swallowing their food.

It depends on where we live. Every TV station in Tokyo replays last night’s US-Japan curling match ad nauseam. And those ski jumps too oh my.
See link below for highlights:

NHK has a special Olympic site you can rewatch almost all the events, even non Japanese ones, commentary all in English.

Thanks for the link guys. Appreciated.
Altho it means I gotta sit in front of the pc - lol.

Congratulations to the ladies.
I still struggle when something is called a sport that is more about skill than athletic ability. Curling seems like darts, 10-pin bowling, or crochet. When will those be added?
As I said in another story, perhaps if they set a time limit for each team's play so they were always running/skating, then 'd have less trouble thinking this was sport?

Also, if the brand of snack is visible, it becomes a big seller in Japan. Makes one wonder if the team or its members get a little cash to visibly eat certain brands of snacks, kind of like IG influencers and such do.

Hey look! Japanese do hug.

yamanashistud
