it wasn’t a good olympics because of China and the ROC. With the atheletes uncertain of their fate to compete!

The living conditions and mental state of the athletes. The lack of real snow. The poor 15 year old being drugged and the postponement of the award ceremonies for the deserving athletes that had done nothing wrong.

The attacks by China and the u.s on social media about which country the athlete was from and so on!

Not to mention it was on so late at night. Sorry guys it was one of the worst Olympics. Just because some journalist described it as the best!

As they said in the Matrix….. “open your eyes, I’m only offering you the truth nothing more”

Most successful. Which isn't all that successful at all.

Japan won 18 medals - that's more than a lot of bigger winter countries!

@Steve -

"...Not to mention it was on so late at night..."

That's strange. Here in Japan it was on at almost perfect time.

And re the snow. The artificial snow - made and kept in perfect conditions of -20+C - was commended for it's predictability. Not my opinion, but the opinion of many of those in the know.

There may well be plenty to criticize the Beijing olympics over - that's for sure, but there were certainly many, many highlights to be enjoyed - that's for sure.

Thanks to " DOORDARSHAN SPORT" live telecast in India got to watch the entire Winter Olympics back home in Mumbai.

Let's remember Tibet.

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

Wonder what China would say about Tibet?

pmsl

I am totally not interested after Japan stabbed China in the back. China had totally supported the Tokyo Olympics, and yet USA's minion then decides it must listen to USA and decided to call a diplomatic boycott.

Tom:

Let's remember Tibet.

Yeah, I am. They're doing well. They're prospering. Life is on the up for them. Try asking and visiting them.

Steve:

The living conditions and mental state of the athletes.

So Tokyo was better? On top of that, the athletes were raving about the food and beds in Beijing.

That's more than a lot of bigger winter countries!

Is it? The top medals earner was Norway, with a population 4% the size of Japan's. Japan was also beaten by other tiny population countries Sweden, Austria and Switzerland.

My country, Canada, was ahead of Japan, with less than a quarter of the population, with 26 medals compared to Japan's 18, and the Canadian people and media aren't celebrating much, not nearly like Japan's is.

ROC?

The ROC is Taiwan.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

The ROC is Taiwan.

ROC = "Russian Olympic Committee," since Russia is banned for doping (a ban which will now likely be extended after that debacle with Valieva).

Congratulation to Japan!

One of the Winter Olympics power in the making.

Looking forward to Sapporo 2030!

So, Japan not sending a handful of diplomats to this event is somehow construed as "stabbing China in the back"? You were really hanging out to see those diplomats from Japan, NZ, Australia, Canada, the US and UK who chose not to attend?

Get a grip.

Yes Norway was great and so were Sweden, Austria, Switzerland with keep completing without doping.

We do not need another such kind of competition after the games.

Japan just won the most medal in it's Winter Olympics history and cerebrated it. No need to be ironic.

I have very little interest in spectator sports and look on the current Olympics with loathing. But for some reason I have a soft spot in my heart for Japanese curlers and their mathematical precision. Hurray!

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

@Khuniri

It seems curling is the hot spot for this season! Everyone I know was watching it. And for good reasons too, it's not a judged sport and there are both strength and intelligence gone into it.

I hope the Japan government puts more funding into the Loco Solare team.

Congratulations Olympians of Nippon!

Let's not go overboard

@marcelito

What is your problem lol?

Gambare Nippon:

Choose not to attend? Is that why USA applied for so many diplomatic visas during the Olympics? They forced the minions into a diplomatic boycott, then left them in the lurch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFL

By the way, you sure know a lot considering you were supposed to be on a boycott yourself.

Wasn't Eileen Gu great? Absolute highlight!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

If it wasn’t for curling, GBR would have gone home with zero medals.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

It seems curling is the hot spot for this season!

Curling, or any other obscure sport, becomes "hot" in Japan only if a Japanese person or team does well at it some tournament somewhere.
