Japan edges Czech Republic to top women's ice hockey Group B

This is actually the 1st time for the Czech’s to have an Olympic Women’s team. Which is amazing considering how good they are. Hats off.

The Japanese have done well despite being outplayed in their most recent matches. The true test will now come in the elimination round when they play better teams.

In both the Tokyo and Beijing Games it's been great watching Japanese women's teams in softball, volleyball and hockey play so cohesively and bravely often against players much larger than them. Hats off to Japanese women in sports.

Congratulations Japan was #1 of the second tier. Now it's only going to get a lot harder for them. Gold will be between Canada and the US.

This is fantastic. This team has done a great job of developing over the years. Good for them and good luck in the next round. Canada, the US at a different level but good for Japan.

Ahhh, I remember that one well!! I was a HUGE Bruins fan as a kid, showing my age haha. I loved when Orr would literally go end to end by himself with the puck ending up in the opponents net!!

The Japanese have a better international ranking than the Czechs. The victory is logical, it's not a surprise.

Well done, Japan! You don't usually imagine Japan at all when it comes to hockey, but maybe that'll change. :)
