"If we are able to play our game from the start, we'll absolutely win,"

That's what I call a positive spirit. :D

I would like to be informed if fighting is allowed in the Olympics' ice hockey. I am extremely sensitive and I can't watch the fights on ice hockey. But I am totally ignorant as if it is permitted here.

"It was a game that gives one the feeling that we've developed,"

Endless training is giving its fruits. You reaped sacrifice, you sow success. Kudos!

Best not to build this up too much. They will get crushed when they play either Canada or USA.

No fighting. In women's hockey, there isn't even body checking allowed.

The Japanese have a good shot at Bronze this time. Amazing considering their level a few Olympics ago.

Good start for the Japanese women. I hope they win a medal in hockey and the sports increases a bit in popularity here.

I think TV didn't broadcast Japan X Denmark. At least, I didn't find any TV showing the match.

I watched some of this over a few drinks at the Hub and the score shocked me until I saw it was the women and not men. Didn't know they had women's hockey. Pretty cool.

The Japanese women are very good at Hockey. They have competed in the top division of IIHF sanctioned international hockey for a number of years now (Currently ranked 6th in the world) and the future only looks even more promising. As Japan's U18s Women's team won the gold medal at the 2020 Youth Winter Olympics.

Domestically, there is the Women's Japan Ice Hockey League (女子日本アイスホッケーリーグ) with the majority of the league's being located in Hokkaido. Though, the most successful team is Tokyo's Seibu Princess Rabbits.

Japan vs China. Both played well, China got a lucky bounce to tie, and ends in a shootout with a ringer China brought in from the US.

Boy do I hate shootouts!

Yes, shootouts to end a game are crap. It's a team sport. Let them play. Take a player off for each team if necessary, but a terrible way to win or lose.

And yes the CHinese hockey teams, both male and female, are totally illegitimate. Most players are western born, from Canada or the US, not a trace of Chinese ancestry. Yet somehow they have magically become 'Chinese', in spite of China having some of the strictest naturalization laws in the world. Just look at the player bios on the Olympic website. Clearly a case of the host nation cheating to field an even remotely competitive team. But not a peep from the IOC.

Not to mention the players and coaches are all loathe to speak to the media.
