Must be really egregious if being criticized by bach

Why didn't they just ban the entire Russian team outright? This latest incident just proves they can't be trusted and will exploit any leniency given them.

They've been doing this since Soviet times.

26 ( +37 / -11 )

The IOC was the one that let her skate even though she had taken drugs. A bit late to the party now to start to care.

24 ( +27 / -3 )

The Russian team shouldn’t even be there. Had the Russian team been punished properly for state sponsored doping, then this wouldn’t have happened. The IOC is also responsible for this mess which accepted Russian bribes to let their athletes continue competing. Are the Russians ashamed and embarrassed about their state sponsored doping of athletes? Apparently not.

Bach criticizes Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva's entourage for their 'tremendous coldness'

Bach criticizing ANYONE for their 'tremendous coldness' is like a Neo Nazi criticizing someone for being racist. The man is not only COLD, he's the very definition of slime ball

I would have to question, is a 15yo old capable of understanding, coping with international pressure?

Being on the international stage? Personally I think an age limit on participating in the Olympics might be a topic of discussion. Particularly when drug tests on a 15yo are positive. That’s just abuse. If you want to watch underage girls dance in skimpy costumes on ice, well that’s your thing. I seriously doubt it’s the ice that draws you.

Cheating Russians.

Whats new?

Long history of steroids, intimidation, paying judges, using different drugs for performance enchantment....... while at the same time using 15 year old girls, sexualized to the maximum, given them pills to enchanted their athletic abilities.

Ban the Russians! They keep cheating, lying, using teenager excuse as defense when evidence of guilt is found.

Funny to hear this from Bach who provided no protection to 'person who is a minor' as they said they would.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Seems like a simple fix going forward. The age of majority is 18 in most countries so let’s set the bar there or 17 (preferred) for minimum age for competing in olympic games. Everyone younger goes to the Youth games. 17 year olds make a choice of which event they want to do and barred from both even if they turn 18 in the same calendar year.

On the the logistical side, the youth games get held ideally after the main olympics with the Paralympics pushed back or held 100 days before the Olympics (preferred).

Look, Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva could be any nationality.

Foremost Kamila Valieva is a gifted athletic and probably the most significate skater for a generation.

The heartbreaking collapse, then the callous cruel reaction from coach Eteri Tutberidze, to only to be dismissed as anti-Russian sentiment is truly remarkable.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

One would think that Bach was still to occupied converting all of his ill gotten ¥ from the past Summer Games, to have time to try to make the IOC look like a non-corrupt organization.

The IOC was the one that let her skate even though she had taken drugs. A bit late to the party now to start to care.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that she took drugs when the B sample has still not been tested.

WADA was the one that didn't follow due procedure by testing both her A and B sample within the stipulated

time and if positive ban her the olympics started.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

“Why did you let it go?” Tutberidze asked in Russian, “Why did you stop fighting? Explain it to me, why? You let it go after that axel.”.......

That has be the most ludicrous preposterous inane question Tutberidze could ask.

A moment in front of a mirror could provide the answer.

International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach never stopped to wonder how did this happen?

The whole Ladies Figure Skating event was on a slippery downward slope the moment the Court of Arbitration for Sport became involved.

Bach is a dark human being, very dark.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach on Friday criticized Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva's entourage for their “tremendous coldness” toward the 15-year-old skater after her mistake-filled free skate at the Beijing Olympics.

Bach STFU

Your Organisation and WADA released this kids name to the entire world to be ridiculed

your organisation and WADA wanted this kid thrown out of the Olympics eventhough due

process hadn't been followed to determine that she truly tested positive and to investigate the

adults the gave her drugs as it is very clear she couldn't have done it knowingly by herself.

That’s Eteri’s coaching style. It maybe frowned upon but it gets her results.

Yes it does, Eteri Tutberidze coaching career status is front center, everything and anyone else is superfluous, irrespective of age, or any duty of care.

What goes around comes around the clock is ticking.,

The whole Ladies Figure Skating event was on a slippery downward slope the moment the Court of Arbitration for Sport became involved.

Nope, it was when WADA didn't follow its own procedure and test within the stipulated time

and waiting almost 2 months later after the group events where over and arousing suspicion

from those looking at the event with a critical unbiased mind. Strange, that people are drawing

conclusion when the B sample has still not been tested. In a normal court data gathered without

following due process is thrown out and case dismissed.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

I would have to question, is a 15yo old capable of understanding, coping with international pressure?

I would question why a minors name was released by WADA and the IOC to the international press and ridiculed infront of the entire world when the due process to confirm the positive test wasn't done and no

investigation launched to find out the adults responsible for doping her. Take a moment and think whether you will be happy with the treatment of your daughter if she was treated the way Valieva was treated.

I am sure the answer will be a flat no.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

drlucifer.my friend, did you not view Kamila Valieva coach Eteri Tutberidze failure take responsibly to protect Kamila Valieva emotional venerability.

A caring coach would take Kamila Valieva aside, arm around Kamila Valieva shoulder and profusely apologize stating I have failed in my responsibilities as a coach.

Bach is just trying to shift the blame to the coach, irreparable mental damage had been done to that

kid when considering she is a minor her name was released and ridiculed by journalist for the

world to see, even a murderer isn't treated the way this kid was treated. Shame to all the adults involved

Just look at the pics of this kid used by Associated Press in this story, just out to portray the kid's misery

for the world to see. it is just filled with hatred for the kid.

@justasking--that last part made me think how much mileage Pikotaro got from singing Pen Pineapple Apple Pen. I hope a video of the time he performed it for Donald Trump was saved for the historical archives.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I'm sure she, like other athletes, is feeling too much pressure. Despite her setbacks and challenges, she did well. Sometimes, we have to leave out the pressure and let them be and enjoy their age.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Blaming the coach is after the fact, that kids name was not supposed to be made public

it was plain wrong.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

It is time to put a halt to any future Olympics. It became a disgrace on so many levels! International competitions without money grabbing self centered IOC are enough!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Honestly, the amount of hate that got/gets thrown at Valieva and the whole team just because they're from Russia, although this whole situation hasn't been 100% confirmed or cleared yet, is just terrible and those users should be ashamed.

Exactly.

The stereotype is just shocking.

First drag the girl through the mud, then criticize the coach for being "cold"... now that's rich

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It’s icy cold on every mountain top and very hard and unpleasant to reach them. In other words, they all very well know from the beginning what it means to go for that olympic career, the athletes know it, their parents or partners and families, the trainers too and of course also the IOC and Bach. Don’t play the innocent and surprised or shocked now. And if someone doesn’t like it, then feel free anytime to switch the TV program or as an athlete, stay amateur and prepare for normal shift work at a supermarket cash registry for some pocket money or any other similar job without much income and fame.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

It is irrational, nigh impossible to have any animosity for Kamila Valieva, or either gold medalist, Anna Shcherbakova, or silver medalist, Alexandra Trusova,

No, the buck stops with head coach Eteri Tutberidze.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The whole thing stinks - the Russians carry on cheating as though it's the most normal thing in the world, the bullying-bitch lays into a 15-year old girl who must have been under unbearable pressure, at a totally discredited Games which should never have been awarded to China, one of the world's most repressive and cruel countries.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

This is what the Olympics has come to. Exploitation of minors.

Not limited to the Olympics, there is exploitation every where it is

in the human genes. You know so I am not going to waste my time

giving examples.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

What goes around comes around the clock is ticking.,

We are living in an age where results is all that matters whether you are president, salesman,

or even office worker. You gather admiration, respect and wealth when you produce results.

Desperate for more coverage? The whole reason they are competing as roc is due to the doping program, so the fact it's even a big news, is somewhat surprising.

The coaches were just selfishly mad because they missed out get bonuses based on medals.

why so much of antirussian hate here?

why this is tolerated here?

Dont worry about it. They are just parrotting the corporate fake media. Just shake your head and live with it.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

What a shame they allowed Russia to participate of this Beijin Olympics, just with another name, ’Russian Olympics Confederation'...

They should have been banned from the Games, in the first place.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

When this is how Russia treats their athletes - Who needs enemies?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The undeniable fact is Kamila Valieva is a protected minor.

All competitors irrespective of age, found to be tested positive for a banned substance are not exempt from scrutiny or able to avoid the attention of the global media.

As soon as Kamila Valieva had been highlighted as testing positive, Eteri Tutberidze duty of care to protect Kamila Valieva a protected minor should have kicked in.

However Eteri Tutberidze decided otherwise.

Eteri Tutberidze should have pulled Kamila Valieva from the Beijing 2022 Olympics.

That is the responsibility of leadership to a protected minor.

No, Eteri Tutberidze blinked need for coaching glory made Kamila Valieva walk the plank.

Time for Eteri Tutberidze to take full responsibility.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Did not watch it live, but when I saw her get on the rink, the look in her eyes told me all I needed to know that she was not built for that sort of pressure. There is competition pressure which athletes are used to and then there is the pressure where the person knows that it is totally not in their control and is a whole lot bigger than scoring points. She knew she was not going to stand on the stand and not receive the medal there pending an investigation and that her name was going to have an asterisk if she won. At that point everything she trained for became worthless. It did not help that the people around her failed her. I do not think she will ever compete again.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

This the first time I ever saw anything like this. Good for Bach for coming to Valieva's defense.

In every Olympic I've seen the athletes are showered with hugs and kisses. How did poor Valieva come by this bunch.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I don't know why we let any Russians "compete" in the first place. I put 'compete' in quotes because it should actually say "cheat".

why so much of anti-russian hate here?

why this is tolerated here?

hello admin can you do something about this?

Let's be fair to JT. I'm relatively new but I couldn't see any bias to US here. It's just there are many anti-Russian Western guys here & they are free to write their thoughts as long as they are not calling for violence. If there's away to dig out my comments, you will find out that they are not very pro Americans. Very rarely they got deleted.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

That’s Eteri’s coaching style. It maybe frowned upon but it gets her results.

I think people are so used to getting praised even though they failed. Like being able to say “this is a pen” and the teacher will complement with “that’s an excellent job”.

-6 ( +7 / -13 )

Honestly, the amount of hate that got/gets thrown at Valieva and the whole team just because they're from Russia, although this whole situation hasn't been 100% confirmed or cleared yet, is just terrible and those users should be ashamed.

-9 ( +9 / -18 )

WADA & the US Olympic committee did everything possible to eliminate Russian competition by pulling up and doping report of Kamila Valieva's, which in fact was a regular medicine. However, God is great, Russia got Gold & silver, Japan got bronze & the US got nothing except the Coward's medal again.

-9 ( +6 / -15 )

why so much of antirussian hate here?

why this is tolerated here?

hello admin can you do something about this?or you care only about readers from USA?
