Answer to the headline question: because they are busy being massively overrepresented in running events, basketball, boxing, American football, etc.

Black, white and Asian people usually come from different cultures, where different sports are more popular than others.

Where are the American Indians, the East Indian Americans, the biracial Americans, Hispanic Americans,... This game is going to get more and more difficult as the the US population continues it's march towards majority minority. Going to put a good deal of these type of authors out of a job.

Couple answers; money, access, return on investment. I’m not saying racial issues have had no effect, but I am saying it’s not the only factor. Winter sports are more expensive than summer sports (ice time, lift passes, lodging cost). This limits access, too expensive to participate so alternatives look better. Finally, Return on investment, not really thought about, but equally important. A basketball player makes more money than a figure skater at most levels. Even an ice hockey player has more revenue sources. So the question becomes, why invest so much into an expensive sport where cheaper and more lucrative alternatives exists.

Where are the Asian NFL and NBA players?

Where are the black figure skaters?

At home because they were not good enough. Just like the white sprinters at the summer Olympics.

The 100m Olympic sprint Champion is Italian - half white, half black.

It is rare to see any Black winter olympians. The legendary Jamaicans in Bob Sled are the only ones that spring to mind Winter sports like skiing have always been pricey. A game of street basketball between kids is free.

I guess they better change the whole world as we know it just to make the LGBTQ beings comfortable.

The color of your skin should be irrelevant .

Hasn’t been a white Cornerback in the NFL for over 30 years. Roger needs to get on that.

People who look for racism everywhere see racism everywhere.

@Fighto--do not forget Lanny Davis, a Black speed skater who was seen as an outsider for not staying under the guidance of the American Olympic Team coaches. The sticking point is probably a cliquish coaching system as much as any other factor.

@fighto -

"...The 100m Olympic sprint Champion is Italian - half white, half black..."

What does that mean in the context of things?

Does Jacobs see himself like that?

I was responding to a previous comment that "white sprinters are not good enough". Jacobs sees himself as Italian-African American. There are superb white and Asian sprinters now, and the gap to West African origin athletes is closing.

Thanks, will look him up!

Perhaps they should have 5 points added to each score to even the playing field?

Should be based on performance and not the color of your skin or what gender you think you are

Correction: Shani Davis, the first Black speed skating champ, won back to back golds in 2006 and 2010, to go with two silver medals. He also set world records nine times in his career. Perplexing that Shani is kind of overlooked when people with similar results in other events like Yuzuru Hanyu have international star status. Should have done some plush toy gimmick to whip up the fan adulation?
