The US let this one slip through their fingers. Couldn't fend off the last minute attack which tied the game and then clearly had no plan for the 3-on-3 overtime. The shootouts then tend to be a coin flip. Too bad.

Tough one. I'm going to guess over-confidence (who'd have thought Slovakia would take them out... besides maybe Slovakians), and then just the bad luck of losing once in the knock-out stage. Very good for the Slovakians, though!
