The Putin Government caught red handed , pun intended.

They have subjected a talented fifteen year old to to a global Olympic doping scandal.

Ashley Wagner.

“Yes, a 15-year-old can be mature, and have a life that is already full of incredible experiences, but still, she is a kid, she’s not the first kid put in this position and she won’t be the last unless we start taking this seriously.”

If Kamila Valieva continues in this competition, then the whole Olympic ethos and the concept of fair play is worthless.

Virtue of rule adherence whereby players and athletes abide by the rules of competition. It is also a commitment to contest in a good spirit and encourages a good attitude towards sport that includes respect, modesty, generosity and friendship.

Sickening that Russia would dope a child.

But 100% expected. They've been doing it for many decades. The Russian doping program will continue for as long as that miserable nation exists.

“It’s always bad when something like that happens, so we’re very sorry for any athlete," Russian ice dancer Gleb Smolkin said. "I think like everyone else; we are just waiting for the results of this story. We wish Kamila all the best. She’s a great athlete, she’s a great skater. She has a bright future.”

So, the Russian Government and Kamila Valieva coaches decided to condemn 15-year-old Kamila Valieva.......

Oh Yes, thrown Kamila Valieva to the media to be judged a cheat.

Kamila Valieva, never required chemical assistance,

Kamila Valieva is a gifted skater from birth.

This scheming cynical, callous cruelty is a abuse of Kamila Valieva human rights pure and simple.

The accountably lies with Kamila Valieva team, coaches and the Russian government,

I'll be surprised if CAS doesn't allow her to compete, because they can always strip her of any medals later.

When athletes provide a sample, it gets divided into an A sample and a B sample. If the A sample tests positive, the B sample is pulled from storage and tested to confirm the results. That hasn't happened yet. The athlete and their representatives are allowed to attend the testing of the B sample but that's not possible here due to time constraints.

More importantly, the WADA testing guidlines for laboratories stipulate that all samples must be tested within 20 days, but the Swedish lab took early 5 weeks due to Covid complications. If CAS is going to be charitable to the lab, I don’t see how why they won't also be charitable to the athlete. Everything can be rectified after the Olympics when the B sample is confirmed.

M3, we could all huff and puff over this sample or that sample, A or B and the time constraints.

M3 may I, humbly suggest you as a father, view the need to approach the clear

We all are prevaricating the rights of a minor. 15 years old.

lets start from and the fact that the Russian government failed to respect conflict of terms.

Russian Government politically prevaricated the a fifteen year old girl to be judged a cheat

Yes but where does this lead the global sporting community, up a blind alley?

The fact still remains Kamila Valieva failed a drugs test.

Kamila Valieva either passed or failed a drug test no if's or buts.

Someone hasn't read the article, I see

If the doping is found to be true it shows how low the Russian authorities will sink in doping a minor, and it will show the Russians learnt nothing from their sporting ban and should be excluded from all competitions for the next decade as a minimum.

Reprehensible. Russia may as well just hold sporting events for the doped up only. They dont care about rules or being fair. It starts from the top down. Putin cheating his way to the top as always.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

The fact still remains Kamila Valieva failed a drugs test.

But she hasn't. That's the problem. The World Anti-Doping Code makes clear that an anti-doping rules violation (a failed drug test) can only be established by confirmation of the B sample, or just the A sample if the athlete waives their right to have the B sample tested.

What Valieva received last week is a charge based on findings in her A sample from Dec 25th. This triggers a process which includes an automatic suspension from all competition, but this can be immediately lifted by the national anti-doping agency if they have reasonable justification to do so. The question for CAS will be whether RUSADA's reasons for lifting the suspension were reasonable. None of the reasons have been made public as far as I know.

The IOC is a joke! She nor Russia should have been allowed to compete in the Olympics!

You are incorrect! She did fail a drug test. The ITA confirmed that she failed!

Ms. Jenkins might as well be an anonymous poster on JT. You used an opinion by author who has no credibility in science and provided no expert "scientific" evidence to back up her claim.

Not only that, she makes the illogical claims that Kamila could not have possibly cheated because she is naturally gifted.

Ok, tell that to Lance Armstrong and all the other "gifted" athletes that got caught cheating.

M3, this was/is a positive result for the Kamila Valieva, the ROC figure skater calling into question, after the International Testing Association confirmed that Kamila Valieva, had tested positive for the banned substance trimetazidine

That called into question Kamila Valieva participation in the Beijing games, and also the organization decision responsible for holding such games that allowing Kamila Valieva to do so.

I know, Kamila Valieva is 15 years old.

Kamila Valieva allegedly has been violated by her own country, coaches and staff.

The World Anti-Doping Agency defines trimetazidine as a stimulant and has banned its use by athletes in competition since 2014.

The International Olympic Committee appealed the decision allow Kamila Valieva to complete to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

As M3, you quite rightly pointed out, so I stand corrected on the point that sample B need conformation.

I don't take pleasure in the fact that such a gifted prodigy has been thrown into a global media cesspit.

If this was a 15 year old American or Japanese than they would have protects her as a minor and not even released her name to the media. The authorities would have used the protect minor guidelines according to the way it was designed to be used. It’s just horrible that the media has crucified this 15year old! Even reporters harassing her during her practice session! There is a million ways her sample from DECEMBER could have got a positive result. By law that test result should have been thrown out since it didn’t follow the rule of testing within 20 days! Take a new test to decide if she’s clean for the Olympics! It’s also important to remember that these test at times can be inaccurate and return a false positive results for banned substances. That’s why more than one test is necessary. If she is banned than it’s probably the end of her career as Russia will get new / younger girls to win gold medals in the next Olympics and world championships!

Honestly, makes sense she would continue to practice and/or compete as long as she is allowed to.

If she is ultimately disqualified, she is out a lot of hard work but so be it.

If she is absolved of the charges though, and didn't practice or compete because of assumed guilt, she is out all that hard work for no reason. She may as well keep pushing forward with presumed innocence until it is determined otherwise.

Exactly

It is a shame that there are supposedly bright minds here not questioning why

WADA didn't test her sample within the stipulated 20 days and why did they wait

until after the team event had concluded before releasing the bombshell news.

I guess those deriding this kid as a doper would do same if it was their 15 year old

that was accused of taking banned substance.
