Great game! It was such a hard fought final game and series that it's too bad both teams couldn't share the title.

All it takes is just one swing of the bat, that's what baseball's all about.

Nice to see such a great ending to the series, and Chicagos drought. Too bad Ernie Banks didnt quite live long enough to see it, but better late than never.

Game 7, tied 6-6 in the 9th inning, and there goes............ a rain delay - just imagine all the anxiety attacks, the thoughts about who could continue pitching after the delay and how momentum is coming or going with the upcoming batters

Only the Cubs and the curse could had almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory: blowing a 5-1 lead with a couple errors allowing 2 runs scored on a single wild pitch and a 2-run HR blown-save by their best pitcher in the series, a HR-hitting batter's horrible bunt safety-squeeze strikeout with the winning run on 3rd base, and after regaining a 2-run lead, making it yet come down to the last run, while the 3rd baseman slips on the throw to 1st for the final out. But this time, even all that is too much for the curse!

Cubs did to Cleveland Indians what the current NBA champs Cleveland Cavaliers did to Golden State - come back from a 3-to-1 deficit and win the title in Game 7 on their opponent's home court. Cubs have 3 catchers on their roster; all 3 catchers played and each got a hit - including old-man Ross who's playing in his last game before retirement and hit a HR as a substitute in his only AB of the game and final AB of his career.

Indians manager Terry Francona started out 9-0 in his WS career but then lost 4 of the next 6 WS games. Cubs manager Joe Maddon is Francona's kryptonite: Maddon is now 3-0 against Francona in winner-takes-all playoff games. Ex-Red Sox and current-Cubs GM Theo Epstein, all of just 42 years old, has now broken 2 of the sports' longest curses (1918 Red Sox in 2004 and now 1908 Cubs in 2016).

So the only question left is: would Steve Bartman ever return to Wrigley Field now? (It took Bill Buckner a couple of decades to forgive.)

Great Series! All seven games ... but Game No. 7 was the best of all. Rooted for both teams in what was a zig-zag tourney. Good to see the Cubbies finally break their long title drought. Next hope the Indians can break theirs ... next year ... or the next ... or .... If the Cubs can win again next year ... then all of us won't have to wait for up to 108 years to see it happen again.

Indians have now lost their last 2 World Series in 7 games - so close yet so far - now that's their curse

(Indians have also lost their last 4 WS in a row)

While the Cubs haven't been to the WS before this since 1945 (and had lost 7 in a row)

Ah, Harry Caray died too early

well "World" champions not world champions but hey it's a nice win. Congrats Chicago.

Now it's just a matter if this is a sign of the apocalypse given the USA voting situation or if..it...will...all...be....okay

well "World" champions not world champions

"World Series" champions, actually. "World Series" is the name of MLB's championship series.

For the Cubs fans, this is literally the greatest thing since sliced bread.

And I mean, literally.

Cubs hadn't won WS since 1908. Sliced bread wasn't invented until 1928.

Congratulation Cubs and Cub fans.

Yes. It's the moniker that stuck. New York World newspaper from 19th century, but yeah it's the MLB Championship name. No other US system has World in front of it. NBA, NHL etc. The World Cup is more apropos as it actually represents countries. In this case could be soccer or rugby

108 years to win it all and this game was worth the wait!! From the crack of the first bat to the last!! From pinch runners and hitters to designated hitters. This game had all the elements of real baseball, GO CUBBIES!!! Obama is a south sider rider and if you lived in chicago only you would know what that means. People who live on the south side of chicago are true white sox fans and Obama lived on the south side. The Cubs are on the North Side so people from the north side ride with the Cubs. Now HiLLIARY is claiming North Side what a joke the GOAT is gone so there is no need for another one!!

YEAH CUBBIES ! ! ! And those seven games folks, are why they call it the "Fall Classic" !

Yes. It's the moniker that stuck. New York World newspaper from 19th century

That newspaper thing is actually a myth. When the National League and the American League -- who each named themselves because they aspired to have teams all across America - agreed to play a series of games to determine the overall champion, they needed a name that transcended the "nation" and "America", and so "World's Series" (it was usually in the possessive back then) stuck. Something like "Major League Championship" would be more accurate, but I'd rather see teams from outside North America eventually reach major league status. Maybe when Cleveland gets their turn, they will be facing the Venice Gondoliers or the Melbourne Monarchs -- we can hope!

And congratulations to Chicago!

Quote of the day:

"A female President? Ha! The Cubs will win the series before that happens!"

Yeah, it happened, huh ? The Cubbies won the WS just six days before WE WILL elect the first female POTUS in the history of this STILL GREAT nation (in spite of what the Orange Chump thinks) ! 1/20/17 - "Madame President" !

The last time the Cubs won the WS, American women couldn't even vote

Now Indian team owners have. tom negotiate about its logo of chief Wafoo on cap.at ML meeting.
