The Chinese players' safety was never under any threat whatsoever. Pull out if you want to, but don't lie about the reason.

And now sport? These Chinese are making this situation volatile, not the Japanese.

14 ( +16 / -2 )

they are right, the thousands of violent protesters torching Chinese flags, hurling rocks and smashing Chinese restaurants in Tokyo are very scary.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

NO. Japan should stand tall and ignore the Chinese. Just let them play their silly childish games. Please Japan do nothing... Right now, China is showing the world it's true behavior. Do you best to ignore them.

It's inconceivable witnessing how small a huge nation can be.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Japan also should pull all Japanese out of China because of enormous safety fears. China doesn't look like a constitutional state.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Avigator... While I don't want to wade into the actual argument about who's these stupid rocks are.. but your post is misleading and spurious.

You want to compare a nation to what it was 90 years ago? how about Germany.. and China itself.

I haven't seen a single Chinese restaurant or korean for that matter have even one issue, infact they are popular and full as always.. Yesterday I was with literally with a Taiwanese, Chinese and Japanese person.. guess what.. no issues at all anywhere..

You are just trolling.

If they want to not come as a protest.. thats their choice but they can at least be honest about it.

but before you look at the sty in your neighbor's eye, look at the sty in your own eyes first.

A great lesson for China.

They have valid and validated concerns from past Japanese belligerent behavior. In particular the massacre of Koreans, Chinese, Okinawans, and even Japanese of southern provinces during the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. And that was just because of rumors. What more if there were justified reasons. Just look it up. I believe this is a valid post moderator, so please do not delete. Thanks.

And what about the tens of thousands of Chinese and Koreans who are currently living in Japan and who have not been "massacred" since the Chinese and Koreans invented the new sport of attack the Japanese consulate/ business? What a stupid post. It's so stupid you are even pleading for non-deletion at the end of the post.

What China really fears is the huge loss of face because their athletes in Japan will be welcomed and treated with respect, which shows Japanese have sang froid and poise, whereas Chinese don't seem to be able to communicate their displeasure by any means except throwing childish tantrums. What a contrast!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

This is becoming more and more pathetic as each day passes. All of this over rocks in the sea?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Totally ridiculous!!!

China in no way has concerns about safety of their athletes. This is just propaganda!!

What about the huge contingent of Chinese workers that were supposed to be studying but in reality are just brute work force in japanese factories? Right here in Gifu there are a lot, a lot of chinese peacefully working. Never heard of a single chinese being bullied here.

And the chinese government knows that!!!

This is just another exemple of the heavy hand of the chinese government throwing more gasoline to this fire.

This clearly not only about those island. There are something more and that's really keeps me worried...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

So sad. This shows China still is not ready to be a [fair] global player. And I do feel sorry for the athletes who must feel cheated out of an opportunity to compete.

they are really funny as funny as koreans (W

China should be concerned for there was a MASS demonstration in front of the Chinese Embassy.

@ Nigelboy - I dunno if 5 - yes 5! - activists protesting in front of the Chinese Embassy in Minato-ku today will have the Chinese govt. quaking in their boots yet at this "mass protest" , buddy! Thanks for the link anyway. Maybe JT should put up a pic of this out of control 5-man riot?

I never heard of Japanese peoples hurt Chinese sport persons in Japan because of Japan - China tension. It's ridiculous reason of Communist Chinese Government’s propaganda or Communist Chinese Government is preparing to invade Senkaku Islands soon. Sometime many messages you can get from Communist propaganda. You can't ignore it. For example, Communist China has built new City on one of disputed Islands with Philippine and other South East Asia coutries. Communists are always sorting out problem by force in history. Japanese peoples don't need to hurt physically to Chinese peoples but only need to stop buying Made in China goods.

BTW - if it was only 5 people, I am glad - it shows restraint here which can only be a positive thing.

Nonsense, but consider the source. CCP fools.

Per Palmas Island case

Firstly, title based on contiguity has no standing in international law.

Secondly, title by discovery is only an inchoate title.

Finally, if another sovereign begins to exercise continuous and actual sovereignty, (and the arbitrator required that the claim had to be open and public and with good title), and the discoverer does not contest this claim, the claim by the sovereign that exercises authority is greater than a title based on mere discovery

I am not justifying anybody. I am not trying to make them look bad either. Each of them have had choices but have opted for the ones leading to this crisis. If Japanese get educated in history, maybe they will not support their government claims. After all, did not they learn their lessons about the atrocities of war with Fat Man and Little Boy, something they could not see in their own actions?

A Japanese scholar himself vouches in favor of China. That is Kiyoshi Inoue, (http://www.skycitygallery.com/japan/diaohist.html)

Yet, another foreign scholar also has a thesis in which evidence leans towards China as the legitimate owner of these islands:

http://ir.canterbury.ac.nz/bitstream/10092/4085/1/thesis_fulltext.pdf

And his analysis was more in a neutral tone than Mr. Inoue's who definitely favored China in regards to this issue. (something that only they can resolve).

Yes, the facts will clear a lot of doubts from people who believe things out of passion and patriotism without investigating the facts.

What happened in 1923: In the below section of Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1923_Great_Kantō_earthquake

Post-quake massacre of Koreans and other ethnic minorities, it details how rumors spread that Koreans were poisoning the water wells. Vigilante groups were formed and a shibboleth was establish to distinguish other yellow race citizens from Japanese, (juu go en and juu go sen). Even Okinawans and some Japanese citizens of regional dialects suffered the same fate. In many cases the police and the army colluded with vigilante groups. And in some cases where they sought refuge at police stations, the mob overan them.

But here is the big kicker: among the civil unrest, police and the imperial army used it a a pretext to liquidate political dissidents. And these were Japanese citizens. You can not cover the sky with your hand.

Yes, Chinese have had a bloody past, but before you look at the sty in your neighbor's eye, look at the sty in your own eyes first.
