At its core, the ethical question is simple. If the internment and trafficking of millions of ethnic minority citizens in Xinjiang isn’t enough to demand a boycott, what is?

Boycott the games and stop business with China. As a consumer do not buy anything made in China. The bully must be stopped now

22 ( +24 / -2 )

China warns US. haha like a mouse warning an elephant not to step on it lol

17 ( +21 / -4 )

I'm all for boycotting China.

Easier said than done, but try to buy fewer Chinese products if and when your budget allows.

Look for alternatives. They're out there.

Keep in mind that the less you buy from China, the better it is for the rest of the world.

"...should really take a visit to Xinjiang"

But ccp will not allow anyone to visit. One must wonder why... Could the ccp be hiding somethimg?

China can't demand. While I don't care what happens to any future Olympics, I do think there is a double standard. It was known that Russians were cheating bigly, and that they were killing gays and have done nothing against racism. And yet, there was no boycott. The result? More cheating and absolutely no change in human rights. And they're still killing off political opponents. I don't know whether this preferential treatment towards Russia was because most of them are white or because Russia isn't giving America a run for its money with regards to economy size and power. So why exactly was there no boycott of Sochi?

The US is a sovereign nation and can do as she pleases. Perhaps, unlike China, she has a sense of morality and cannot turn a blind eye to the FACT millions of innocent Muslims are being interned, tortured and executed in concentration camps. The worst genocide since WW2.

Hopefully other nations will grow a conscience too, and boycott the sick and disgusting propaganda-fest Beijing Games.

Boycott the despot games OR have make the US uniform a Winnie the Pooh costume.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Looks like China has thrown IP law to the wind with those uniforms. Santa may sue.

“The politicization of sports will damage the spirit of the Olympic Charter and the interests of athletes from all countries,” said the spokesperson, Zhao Lijian. “The international community including the U.S. Olympic Committee will not accept it.”

Wrong. The international community will make up it's own minds according to their current information and their conscience. The world will not have China dictating to it now, tomorrow or ever.

The US & western allies invaded, bombed and killed 11 million innocent civilians and their children in 9 middle eastern countries are not called genocide?? not crime against humanity?? What's wrong with this world.

Bogus inflated numbers from a Chinese Communist party member. Where were China's objections when the US stopped trading oil to Japan to help during Japans early war against China. Where were China's objections to the US and west bombing and fighting Japan and helping supply and defend China in WWII? Oh it is ok to help China in war but nobody else or you call it a crime. China is an ungrateful and duplicitous Country.

Genocide Olympics. As painful as it would be, if I were an athlete, I would personally boycott.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Boycott the Genocide Olympics!!!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Do not boycott the Olympics or we will (insert threat here)

4 ( +5 / -1 )

"We can do what we want to, but you can't."

Ah . . . wonderful China! Who can forget the fake-o opening ceremony of the last olympics there and the chemicals in baby formula they hid until after the olympics?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

This administration will definitely comply.

China warns US. haha like a mouse warning an elephant not to step on it lol

Sure hope so.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

It's like the local bully screaming that everyone HAS to go to his party. (Except that this bully kills people because of their religion and tramples human rights.)

And, as usual, the United States is up to its fontanelle in hypocrisy when accusing China of ANYTHING because there is little the U.S. has NOT DONE to people somewhere on this planet and, most notably, amongst its own peoples.

Has done vs is doing

Which one can we stop now?

Defining 'Genocide' according to the UN convention:

Article 2 of the Convention defines genocide as... any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such:

(a) Killing members of the group;

(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;

(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;

(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;

(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

— Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Article 2

The worst genocide since WW2

No. The worst 'Genocide' is the ONGOING GENOCIDE and there is an ongoing GENOCIDE which everyone ignores, or is told to ignore, in Palestine. THAT, ignoring a GENOCIDE, is the worst of all charges that the WWII Concentration Camp Survivors made, that the World IGNORED the Concentration Camps (see: Gaza), the reports of profound and serial abuse by Camp Trustees, the cutting off of aid to the Camps in 1943 by the "Allies" as "aid to the enemy" (direct cause of Typhus epidemics), and constantly repeated pretensions that there was "no 'problem" despite eye witness reports. That scenario is now Palestine and has been since circa 1920 when the British disarmed all of the Palestinians but allowed the invading Euro Communists (see: 'kibbutz') to possess whatever arms they wanted. And, as usual, the United States is up to its fontanelle in hypocrisy when accusing China of ANYTHING because there is little the U.S. has NOT DONE to people somewhere on this planet and, most notably, amongst its own peoples. NOTHING that the U.S. charges China with has any moral validity coming from Americans. Perhaps the Chinese could make a deal with the U.S. that, in return for ceasing to attempting to reculturize the Uighur's, the U.S. would agree to STOP KILLING PEOPLE everywhere else in the World. Fat chance...

The threat is probably that a boycott will be reciprocated.

IMO, the Olympics should not be boycotted. They should be an instrument of peace. Period.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Keep in mind that the less you buy from China, the better it is for the rest of the world.

Insignificant. Meanwhile Australia continues to source China’s gas and iron ore.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

@RealCDN it's incorrect, according to Wiki, 1000+ journalists, media, diplomats, and UN Security Chief + 90% OIC members already visited the site over past years, and in Mar 2021, again 30+ diplomats from 30 countries were in Xinjiang. All applauded to China de-radicalization program and vocational training facilities, a program already proven successful as since 2016 zero terrorist attacks. Well done China!!

IOC & host country know some regimes + NGO's are bound to create some issues to boycott the Olympic as what they did in 2008 with Tibet issues. They're using Xinjiang issues with Uighur Genocide, Blood Cotton, and forced labours as their highlight. please do read other side of the stories.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

The hypocrite west + chihuahua has long planned its strategy of sabotage/boycott whenever China is hosting an international event. Same as in 2008, using Tibet to undermine, this time close to winter Olympic 2022 using Xinjiang, Uighurs genocide, Blood Cotton, forced /slave labours. Hey the IOC knows all your dirty tricks.

you seriously think there's genocide of Uighurs?? their population was 5.5 million 30 years ago to 12.1 millions last census. Ignoramus Canadian MPs who voted yes should really take a visit to Xinjiang. the world is laughing at our MP's IQ and EQ. I just wish the west could lie more intelligently, after spending millions in demonizing China. 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and google put it at 3.0 million Uighurs detained?? LOL half the population in Metro Toronto got lock up. No sane persons or govts could fathom that.
