It was actually a joke to let China host the 08 Olympics because they made all these promises about improving individual human rights and the moment the Olympic were over they clamped down in the worst way. The term "liars" comes to mind.

Beijing was remenicent of Berlin 1936. It was nothing more than an effort to show off "socialism with Chinese characteristics" (presumably corruption. Totalitarianism is not an exclusively Chinese product.)
