Doubtful. If he can keep pitching well, I forsee another decade in MLB. Texas fans like him and are counting on him to help keep them in 1st place. Then in his late 30s he can do one last stint in NPB like Kuroda if he wants.

On the other hand, if his arm is truly screwed, NPB is out of the question so he will ride into the sunset and live off the tens of millions he made before age 30. No tragedy there.

I told you he was crocked...he will be back in the NPB soon.

some14some: Ichiro Suzuki, Koji Uehara, Junichi Tazawa, Nori Aoki, Munenori Kawasaki, Hisashi Iwakuma, Masahiro Tanaka, and Kenta Maeda. There you go.

Japanese players have never been the highest paid in MLB. I mean be honest, who is generating more publicity and revenue for the Marlins this year, Giancarlos Stanton at $30 million or Ichiro at $1 million? Ichiro vs. Rose will be one of the top baseball stories until at least the All Star Game if not all of 2016. Stanton is much lower profile right now (nothing against him personally).

If you want to talk about pitchers, Iwakuma, Maeda, Tanaka, Uehara, Tazawa etc. all pitching fair to good so far. None are injured.

Darvish did not play in MLB for at least 18 months. If there are some physical challenges in his post-surgery comeback, so be it. I would not criticize his numbers so far: 2-0, 2.87 ERA.

some14some: "Are there any healthy Japanese players left in the major league baseball this season?!"

One would hope, but it seems like they demand the largest salaries in history so that they can sit on the bench and watch more than play. Shame they throw their arms out by the time they make it to the big leagues.
