Dice-K also had a win last week in his first start of the season. Had an RBI single, too.

The Washington Post had a post-game article talking about how the Nationals had been excited to be facing Yu... BEFORE the game. After the game they were only able to shake their heads in wonder. The players were duly impressed with how they were "served".

As long as he is healthy. then Rangers have chances for AL West contest as Angels have been in losing streak again with terrible infielder fieldings but A's is back to winning streak again. GB Angels 4.5 Rangers 6 Mariners 6.5 Astro out of contest at bottom 11.5 .

I figures our favorite fan Toshiko would comment here! I thought he was Iranian because that what the Iranians here in the states call him despite what everyone else says. It doesn't matter to me!! He just a very good pitcher probably the best in the game today!

@kaimaycahl: You are right. His father is from distinguished Iranian family and his father is Japanese. In Japanese custom, mother's side ancestors are usually ignored but he is a super hero that he is classified as Japanese. We were hoping either Angels or Dodgers could sign but Texas outdid. Sooner or later, with his pitching, Rangers will catch up. with A's. maybe Tanaka vs Darvish match up on WS might excite USA fans?.

I think jerseyboy and other people commenting sport board live in USA. as MLB we watch are televised every place in USA. jerseyboy summarized about Japanese stars in USA very well.

Born Sefat Farid Yu Darvish in Habikino, Osaka, to an Iranian father, Farsad Darvishsefat, and a Japanese mother, Ikuyo. Darvish is fluent in both Japanese and Persian His parents met at Eckerd College, a liberal arts school in St. Petersburg, Florida, where his father played for the college soccer team. His grandfather owned a travel agency in Iran, and decided to send his son Farsad to the United States in 1977 to attend high school in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, where he also raced competitively in motocross.

His mother is a Japanese (sorry not his father when they married). He was born in Japan and his parents registered in her family registry (Koseki) like Japanese do. His mother's family is well-to-do so it was easy, not like commoner class people or Korean people. if Japanese wife's family has shizoku and upper class registry, husband can get natulaization easy in Japan, too. Ordinal 'ignore women cistoms do not apply to some people.

Very well done! Japanese pitchers are dominating, for the most part.

Good weekend for Japanese athletes in the U.S. Darvish won. Tanaka won. And Matsuyama won. This is a great deal for U.S. sports fans -- we get to watch Japan's premier athletes in the prime of their careers, and all we have to do in return is send over some second-rate ones to play in the Japan Baseball League, J-League basketball, and the Japan Golf Tour.
