Yu Darvish won his season debut, allowing seven hits over seven innings as the Texas Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 on Sunday.
Darvish finished with six strikeouts, one walk and managed to pitch out of a couple of jams in the later innings to keep the contest scoreless.
Darvish began the Major League Baseball season on the injured list for the Rangers who averted a three-game sweep with the win.
Elvis Andrus broke the 0-0 tie with a two-out, two-run homer in the eighth inning.
Alex Cobb pitched well in the start for Tampa Bay, holding Texas to three singles with a walk and six strikeouts over seven innings.

Darvish also recorded his 500th strikeout, fastest in MLB history at just over 400 innings.

Looks like Texas gained probability of winning AL West went up in sport betting areas in our city. Mariners have to be careful. Angels and A' may not have a chance when Yu pitches like that.

In that game against the Rays, Darvish became the fastest pitcher in MLB history to reach 500 career strikeouts. He beat the record held by Kerry Wood by three innings ! Ganbarre, Yu-san !
