Good call Kei. Better to pull it than play. Was skeptical he should have played the first two matches as well to be honest but maybe he wanted to defend some easier ranking points

Agreed with fxgai that pulling out was a good call in order to take care of that wrist, but it contributes to what has been a disappointing 2017 thusfar for Nishikori.

The next match with Nadal should be interesting. He's lost to the world number 2 so many times recently, he might not even remember the feeling of beating him! But now their fortunes are reversed. Hmm, I wonder what will happen.

Well, yes and no. Disappointing to people who already crowned him champion before the year began (for the fourth 'disappointing' year in a row), but not not that much for people who just hope he does well without the high expectations. If he gets well soon and does better, great! It makes the whole thing more fun. If he doesn't, it is a shame that so many (not you, but I'm just saying) simply stop watching tennis after he's out.
