hahah, what a joke of country!! The requirement to be vaccinated is pointless to begin with, given that the virus in endemic and vaccination does not stop the transmission of infection. And now of course we have different treatment for celebrities, the rich, and politicians, as usual.

And now of course we have different treatment for celebrities, the rich, and politicians, as usual.

And how can this be, if it was done anonymously?

Tiley previously said the two panels assessed each exemption without knowing the identity of the applicant, with reasons for granting approval remaining confidential.

Sounds like Tennis Australia boss Craig Tiley has been taking lessons from the IOC. Money over anything else. I don't expect that Djokovic will be getting any warm welcomes from the Australian people as a whole.

Of course not. Anyone who is not a celebrity try it and see how you go.

Exemptions to travel in and out of the country for celebrities were common and some travelled in and out a number of times when ordinary people were unable to see sick or dying relatives and others were locked out of their homes.

Now every match he plays will be political and he will be cheered by pro choice and attacked by the MSM.

Should be an interesting tournament ☺️

In Australia sport is religion and trumps everything else - including common sense.

Conradulations to him for standing his ground.

Mandates are not laws, I hope he will do well.

Tiley previously said the two panels assessed each exemption without knowing the identity of the applicant, with reasons for granting approval remaining confidential.

An outright lie. The panels would have had a "special" application made for Djokovic so they could ensure his exemption. There is no reason why he should receive an medical exemption when he is fit enough to play a grueling two weeks of tennis in very hot conditions.

They have been silent on just what constitutes a valid reason for a medical exemption ensuring they can then "play favorites" with the process. A complete farce.

Took a few minutes to stop laughing before I could write a comment.

Tiley insisted the decision was above board and defended the integrity of the process, run by the national and Victorian state governments, that reviewed his application.

There's the problem. The national and state governments have been transparency-impaired and outright dishonest about the entire situation pretty much as soon as COVID began almost 2 years ago. Expecting a shred of integrity from them is naive at best, but in this case just a bald-faced lie.

Still, I'm glad Djokovic will be competing, if for no other reason than to highlight government duplicity and hopefully prompt enough people to stop complying and force the governments to back down.

This guy is amazing. Not only has he won 20 majors & over 80 titles, plus 100’s of millions of dollars, he’s done it all with a medical condition - bravo !

Well well. I enjoy watching Mr. Djokovic play, so I am glad the opportunity has occurred, regardless of the drama behind it or whether his exemption was procured in an above-board process. Can we not enjoy watching this superstar provide us live entertainment? He's in an entertainment business and is very good at it.

Turn that plane around and go back to Serbia.

The Australian Open organizers are clearly corrupt.
