Fighto!
Disappointing news. The previous Conservative government would never have allowed this.
Fighto!
If the Conservatives were in power, he would never have been allowed in. Unfortunately this decision does not show the current centre-left govt in a strong light.

Good to see logic prevail. The ineptitide of the Morrison government will be something studied by generations to come.

Situation changed a lot and what people do not understand the importance to avoid any kind of risk on his body. A lot of sportmen say they can not breath like before after injection, soon getting tired etc..djoko body is his entire job, just taking care of it.
japancat
Well done Novax...Your a man of high principals, who wouldnt let others tell you what to do with your own body !

Well, there are already many people vaccinated and the pandemic is some under control, it is logical that the money and advertising factor are above public health and this capricious clown can be given entry, that's how the world works...

If the reports are true, bodily and moral integrity wins again.
I'm no Labor supporter, but credit where it's due in letting Djokovic play there again.
William Round
Djokovic greatly benefits from the change of government, maybe his Australian fans voted this way hoping for his return to the open.

Credit Australia for admitting their past mistake.

Thankfully he wasn’t allowed to compete last time and become a Super Spreader amongst all the other sensible players who were vaccinated and would not catch or spread Covid.

Australian Minister for Health and Aged Care, Greg Hunt."All vaccines are safe"
Victorian Deputy Premier James Merlino."The vaccine stops transmission"
Victorian Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton.Perhaps it's time for Australian politicians, medical professionals, media and general public to apologise to the unvaccinated. Then again, what would I know - I'm just an "anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorist."

Doesn’t really matter that the Covid situation has changed since he first came here, he was barred from reentering the country for 3 years. Should stay that way.
We don’t like others who think they’re above the rest.
fxgai
Huh…. He is the best tennis player in the world, but doesn’t like vaccinations.
Whether he has millions of dollars of not is irrelevant, and shouldn’t be brought into consideration.
Either continue to discriminate against people who want to retain full control over their bodies, or do not.

Novak is such a hero for standing up against the draconian Vax rules of that previous government in Australia. Good onya mate.
Hermitage Nads
Once again, vindictive Australian logic. Just because you were forced to suffer the draconian measures that made Melbourne and Australia a global laughing stock, doesn't mean you should seek to bring down a world champion who stood up against it.
AustPaul
@Hermitage
I don’t live in Melbourne and I doubt the world thinks we are a laughing stock, we didn’t see large numbers of deaths in the beginning like many other countries, maybe it was the right thing to do at THAT time. I believe that, I was involved in the front line, what did you do?
You make those comments with the benefit of hindsight.
At the end of the day, he had his day in court and was deported pure and simple. And his behaviour I would not say is commensurate with bring a world champion, although he ultimately respected the final decision.
Jim
The guy is making the Australian Government look like a fool!
He is against vaccination and that is his choice and his right. We all should accept that and respect his choice. However, he was deported for not that reason but in reality for lies on his immigration documents which is a crime in all countries globally. His ban for 3 years should stand and he shouldn’t be allowed into Australia. Rich and famous shouldn’t be above the law. The current Australian Government dropped the ball big time on this as they could have easily avoided this situation by staying clear of anything to do with Djokovic!
Strangerland
Not really. This guy let his extremism sideline his career for three years. And you think the Australian government looks foolish. Projection perhaps?
Strangerland
That said, I do agree his ban should stand.
painkiller
Djokovic aces Australia!
It took Australia long enough to realize how silly this ban was.
