NH vs SH means nothing as rugby is a 4 season game these days. World sevens series goes from South to North and indeed so do super rugby teams with no apparent problems. It's time zones not seasons that make it tough.

Agree with the doubters. This is a silly idea. apart from anything the seasonal differences between N and S hemispheres make this tough. If you want to expand the 6 nations (clearly only to make more money) add some other N hemisphere teams  USA? Romania? Even Japan if that makes sense.

And then if the S hemisphere want to add teams they could try the various Pacific Island nations.

Why not have Japan join the Southern Hemisphere Rugby Championship, replacing the Springboks? Logistically easier and a better fit than them basing themselves in Europe, surely? You could even add a team from the Pacific Islands down the track. It all comes down to revenue I guess...
