Southgate's loyalty to Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been questioned in the past

Drop Pickford - don’t want him getting injured.

Play Maguire - if he gets injured, Man U might improve.

Gareth is making this job more difficult than it needs to be.

Here's hoping gaffer Southgate can turn things around, and deal with the boo-boys who were chanting for his head in Molineux. He got the Three Lions to the Euro Final last year, how short their memories are.

I remember well the 2002 WC when England went in as one of the favourites with a galaxy of stars - Beckham, Owen, Scholes, Ferdinand etc - and crumbled under public expectations. Hope these so called "fans" lay off Southgate and let him do his thing with this young, talented team.

Rewriting history there cobber - England narrowly lost to Brazil, the eventual champions, in the quarter final. They crumbled on several other occasions, but not that one.

Dream situation is to sack Southgate and offer the World Cup to pep, klopp, tuchel or Jose on a p/t basis, potentially 9 games and give the job to potter after the tournament, unless the elite coach wants to continue on a p/t contract..

England crumbling at the World Cup? What’s new?

They have never been close to winning anytime in the past 50 years. Even the 2002 squad. They scored a total of 6 goals in 5 games - real contenders score that many in a game or two. English soccer = Legends in their own minds.

I guess it ain't coming home anytime soon!!
