The comment is silly. You could say the same about any two ethnic groups. [X] people are sometimes more racist than [Y] people.

I don’t believe there are any ethnicities that wouldn’t fit this pattern.

I am getting tired of this only whites are racist nonsense...

You mean that thing that no one reasonable in the world is claiming?

Why are you whining about what a bunch of silly people claim?

@Robert Maes. I say, Good on Lewis. Ecclestone and his ilk need to move over and shut up. His record hasn't been spotless as he has voiced admiration for Hitler in the past and who knows what else behind closed doors. Do you support this? These type of guys who are entrenched in big money sports is what perpetuates racism at a social and economic level. If Hamilton hadn't spoken up who would have, you? It takes someone who has the platform and the courage to speak up against this embodiment of institutionalized racism. Remember Jackie Robinson, Arthur Ashe? As for Blacks being racist, it's the same old card, "I know I am, but what about you?" Or "all lives matter."

The straw man fallacy - present an argument that no one is making and then attack that, rather than the actual argument.

People of every colour and background are racist, and always will be, but that would not take the knee, both literal and metaphoric, off of black people's necks.

robert maes - I respect the story you told about your experience in Taiwan and the fact that you know Bernie Eccleston. And I can't say that I would still out Hamilton's company either.

But what was the point he was trying to make? What useful contribution did he think it was going to make to the debate at this time? It does sound like an "All lives matter" comment to me.

@Ohara

Whats wrong with an “All lives matter” comment??

White people who try to interrupt the conversation about institutional racism disproportionately applied toward Black people with "All Lives Matter" are like the founding fathers who wrote "All men are created equal" while owning slaves!

If "Black Lives Matter" bothers you because it doesn't say "All Lives Matter" but "Blues Lives Matter" doesn't bother you, then what really bothers you is the word "BLACK".

A cartoon in Private Eye this week had an old lady wearing a “Save the Donkeys” T-shirt.

“What about all the other animals?” demands a snarling skinhead.

I'm definitely looking forward to July 4th this year - international All Countries Day.

All Nations Matter.

Bernie Ecclestone seems to be mainly upset because black people at least in his mind don't know their place.

He I is also correct about the statues, they should be used to educate people about the failures, genocides, murders and all other crimes against humanity. But frankly if we would remove all statues of those world figures who have blood on their hands we would not have many left. And we would be erecting even less.

Napoleon, all Roman emperors, kings, politicians nearly without exceptions, would see their statues removed.

When people bring up this argument, I remind them how so many conservative mostly Caucasian people had no problem when Saddam Hussein's statues were torn down, and he was removed from their currency.

@Numan:White people who try to interrupt the conversation about institutional racism disproportionately applied toward Black people with "All Lives Matter" are like the founding fathers who wrote "All men are created equal" while owning slaves!

Well, what if a black person says exactlty the same thing, as many have?

First, show me where many Black people have said "All Lives Matter"! I guarantee that it is a very small insignificant percentage of the population. Second, claiming that some Black people say it is fine is just another weak illogical argument. It is equivalent to Whites who claim that they can't possibly be racist because they have a Black friend!

2 ( +5 / -3 )

@ohara

And you can find lots of video online of Antifa/BLM shouting down black people who are trying to voice disagreement with them. Usually its young white people screaming (literally) the hardest at them.

LOL! What???

So you have nothing but your "anecdotal evidence" based on your subjective definition of "many". Gotcha!

Who is “interrupting the conversation” here? Its not me. Youre the one deciding what can be said and What cant be said. Thats not a conversation - its a monologue.

It is interrupting when you attempt to change the topic to something irrelevant to the conversation.

Like Stranger said:

looking forward to Happy July 4th this year

"All Nations Matter!" No, "All Holidays Matter!" Those analogies might be over your head!

Yeah, @Ohara doesn't get it!

Having experienced assaults at the hands of blacks while not doing anything and just being white and knowing other people like myself . . . well, I have to agree with that comment. Except I would say that black people are often more racist than whites, not always but often.

Well.....experiencing racism and discrimination at the hands of whites while not doing anything but being not white and knowing other people like myself......well, I have to disagree with your and his comment.

And the fact, about slavery, colonialism, lynchings, segregation, and white supremacy!

I would say that whites are more racist than any other race on the planet!

Since Numan based his observations on real events like actual historical examples of racism by an entire racial group and culture, and your's are based on "alternative facts".

Intelligent people understand that you are "imitating" Numan with your projections!

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

By the way.......

Ignoring or denying that among black people there are also racists is not the way to tackle the racism problems from whites against other coloured people.

Mr Ecclestone made a lot of sensible comments in that interview among them he said schools have to ingrained equality into everyone and make people understand colour does not matter.

I personally could not care less what colour or nationality people have. And Mr Ecclestone, and I do know him, neither. He has many mistakes but he is also one of the most intelligent and rational businessmen and visionaries in his sector ands not a racist.

So before all these “political correct “ people are going to start trashing him here and on other media, I support him. There are many more racists among whites than among blacks but we certainly do not hold the exclusively on racism. Japanese citizens should also look twice within their past , and present. It is so degenerate, so neanderthaler thinking, to even make any negative distinction on the basis of colour of people. And it shows 3000 yers has thought us nothing, that every generation makes the same mistakes over and over and that “ civilisation” is stil just a word

I actually do not like the guy, but what he said is correct.

Silvafan,

Alternative facts?! What on earth are you talking about? This is part of the problem when debating radical on either end of the spectrum. They just shout out fake news or alternative facts whenever they're unable to debate on a given topic in a thoughtful and specific manner. Well, it looks like there's a little Donald Trump in all of them.

Robert Maes, thankyou for your heartfelt and sensible comments. I agree.
