It was a very interesting night of tennis.

Djovokic: Very workman-like. Fucsovics made it difficult for him - this wasn't an easy win for Nole, but he did what needed to be done and earned another straight sets win. He's still clearly the favorite for this title.

Federer: A disappointing end, and he was clearly upset by it. But perhaps he exceeded what our expectations should've been. I think most fans were irrationally assuming he'd revert to the invincible Federer of old, despite lots of evidence suggesting that couldn't be the case. He's not as fast as he used to be, struggled with Hurkacz's power, and his brilliant, unexpected shot selection from the past was considerably tamed. He's definitely still a competitor, and far from being discounted. But considering how long he was away from the game, his age, and other factors, I think tennis fans ought to consider the QFs a pretty good result for him.

Shapo: Glad he won. There's something about Khachanov that has always rubbed me the wrong way.

I just watched a part of Djokovich's match, unless he has a really bad day and the opponent a stellar one, I really don't see anybody capable of beating him at grand slam level now. Percentage tennis, right shot selection, crazy footwork, and his serve also improved. Maybe not the most entertaining style, but surely the most effective.

I personally like the elegance and aggressive style of Federer and I wanted to see him in the final against Djoko, but maybe we won't have the chance to see that happening again.

Glad to see that NHK managed to hook us up to these two matches last night.

Federer showed flashes of his old self with some wicked shots, and the crowd was heavily behind him, but he was making too many unforced errors. By the end of the first set the seeds of doubt had been sown in our minds.

Congratulations to HH! A well deserved win.

Watched part of the  Djokovich match, he almost reminds me a little of Ivan Lendl his machine like method. It is disappointing that WOWOW have the rights to Wimbledon, but don't have the rights to the English commentary. I feel that the Japanese announcers are way out of their league calling these big time events. Much like Euro 2020, was so happy I could listen to the British announcers, they really helped make that a great game.

MarkX, NHK supplies the English commentary. (Ladies matches this evening.)
