"" It's the first time a woman will be in charge on soccer's largest stage.""
Our world still has a very very long ways to go when it comes to gender equality.

Women referee way better then their male counterparts. One word for male soccer referee primadonnas. Come to think about it. Male players can learn off the women how to behaved sportingly on and off the field. I am often singling out women sporting competitors lately to my grandchildren as role models. I certain can not point to a male soccer referee as role model to my grandchildren.

The only question is can she keep running for 90 minutes?
Men's World Cup matches are a lot faster than women's matches, and a referee must run faster to keep up with the flow of the match.
If she can, then good luck to her.

My Mother can shop for six hours non stop, covering more space than the posse chasing Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Try keeping up with her.

Refereeing at a world cup football tournament is a massive honor. All the best to referees Yoshimi Yamashita, Stéphanie Frappart, Salima Mukansanga, and to the entire crew of FIFA appointed whistle blowers.
