FIFA is just like the International Olympic Committee (IOC), both organizations are polluted with corruption. They often say nice things and pretend to be impressed with bids. In the end, the country that is awarded the event will be the one that offers the biggest bribe.

FIFA is made up of a number of representatives, and if ONE members says they are impressed that's not saying a lot. Japan has some interesting ideas in terms of tech, but that's still 12 years down the road and won't be that impressive come that time, methinks. In fact, a lot of what they proposed is already more or less doable with iPhones (at least, the electronic ticket thing located where you are in relation to the venues, etc.). The economic impact of building the new structures, and I'm guessing venues would not always be packed due to cost of coming to and staying in Japan, would be disastrous to the economy.

Anyway, the International Olympic Committee said the same thing about Tokyo's bid, and we know how that worked out. All I'm saying is, Japan had better not start counting their chickens.

I meant to add -- I daresay that Japan has a better chance than SKorea, but maybe with Samsung being the number one electronics company in the world right now they might wow the FIFA reps in ways we can't predict.

I still think it'll be any one of the other three before it's Japan or SK, and FIFA can always fall back on the 'they hosted it in 2002 while the other countries have yet to do so'. I say Qatar or the US, with Australia giving it a strong go.

Most revenue. Yes. Revenue equal No.1? probably not.

In this day and age of highspeed travel and information technology, there is no reason why the entire preliminary rounds of the World Cup could not be held among 8 host cities. Much less needless construction and waste, more potential fans. FIFA could actually make even more money as well: 8 cities paying 15 cents is better than one city paying a dollar.

Spread the love--decentralize!

Same with IOC. (e.g Sochi 2014)
