England did well, the second half they pulled their finger out, Foden rose to the challenge.
Give that man a cigar, perhaps not, a drink.

Why do the British double dip,is Wales part of the British empire, this would be like you let Puerto Rican play the US
rcch
I’m still not convinced; let’s talk AFTER the next two(!) games.

Good game. Would have liked to see Wales go through but not to be.

Yrral: Thats because this was a game between two separate members affiliate affiliated to FIFA. England and Wales. Not Britain. Your lack of knowledge is awful as always. Also. Let's stop with the 'Empire' overtones shall we. No one's listening to you.
Wales were awful against Iran and England. Much sterner test coming up Monday Morning for England. Now the tournament really begins.

I don't know about that example. Puerto Rico and U.S. are and always have been separate teams. In fact, they may be playing each other in the WBC though I doubt PR getting past DR and Venezuela to the quarters.

Casedeoctane...
No need, Wales had to qualify for the cup. Qatar just bribed FIFA to get in.
Scotland would love to qualify in the Asian or North American groups....

Qatar is obviously the worst team to ever play in the World Cup. They had never qualified before and they were only in because they are the host

We still dream of the days of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia when there were fewer countries in Europe and so qualification was easier.
Ah_so
And they were only hosts because of the brown envelopes of cash that they handed to FIFA delegates to vote for them.

The result shows what a mistake it was not to play Down Vs the USA. The US was not a very strong team and an in-form England could easily have beaten them.
And while England can be pleased with how they responded to the defensive tactics of Wales, the big test will come when they reach the quarter finals.
