Mindless phoney, mob-think virtue signalling.

The protests are valid and well intentioned. The trouble is, Western governments are hypocrites. Putin barrel-bombed Syrian civilians on behalf of Assad and it hardly registered on European and US news media. Few Western politicians gave a toss. Compare that to the invasion of Ukraine. Ukrainian refugees are settled around Europe. If your skin is a bit darker and you are from the Middle East, Africa, or any Islamic country, you are put in a camp and considered a problem and a threat. Turkey can do whatever it wants to the Kurds and Europe will stay silent, as Turkey is restricting migrants into the EU. Politicians are untrustworthy. They pick and choose what they wish to highlight and make sure their news media do too.

Absolutely right. But the sports protests from the previous few years have largely been against abuses in the USA - against hatred, police brutality, against racism, against the fascist Trump. While that certainly exposed the social diseases and ugliness deep with American society, everything else got shoved aside (Tigray? African ethnic wars and dictators? Myanmar? More.).

Just like a Sith master always has his apprentice, you won't find virtue signalling from the left, without outrage signalling from the right.

The Beautiful Game of football is life in full flow. In their own countries and in countries they are taken to display their courage, footballers keep raising their voices against oppression, corruption, injustices, racism, exclusion, poverty, war, and other man-made disasters. Footballers are inspiring human beings. May their tribe increase.

When I first saw the photo above, Anti-Arab was NOT the first thing I thought. I thought it was an statement about the lack of free speech around the world, mainly under authoritarian govts, but what do I know?
