Ganbarre, Nippon ! Too bad Kei-san opted out. He and Andy Murray (and others) have expressed a desire to have the Davis Cup format revamped. Hope it happens !

Extremely regrettable Kei has chosen not to represent his nation in Davis Cup. It bugs me that nowadays some stars do this (Australias Bernard Tomic is another serial offender) and then if their country makes the semis, suddenly they are like "OK, I'll take it from here guys". Yes, its a busy schedule, but show some pride in representing your nation for the fans!

Agree with BurakuminDes, Davis cup is about playing as a team and a country, it should be a priority, but it obvoiusly isn't for some players, the timing isn't the best straight after AO, but everyone is in the same boat, except Djokovic who had an early exit, thanx DENIS, Always was going to be difficult for Japan, with Simon and Gasquet in the top 20 on the ATP and no#1 ranked doubles team in the world..

"Simon and Gasquet in the top 20 on the ATP and no#1 ranked doubles team in the world..."

Yes but/and the French number 1 -Montfils- and number 2 -Tsonga- and number 3 -Pouille- were having also "busy schedule" :)
