I can't believe they would disqualify France, but when Gatlin clearly crossed the line into Bolt's lane at the last baton exchange, we (the Americans) weren't disqualified. How unfair is that.

One, it was the outside Lane, so gained no advantage, Two he didn't impede Bolt at all, three Jamaica won so had no desire to protest. In relays thing get tight laterally in the change over zone. France changed batons outside the official area, that case is Black and white, hence they were DQed.

Pretty easy really.

Nuke - Canada got disqualified at the London Olympics for slightly stepping on the line and gained no advantage out of it, while Gatlin was WAY over the line. Changing batons outside of the official exchange zone and stepping into another lane are BOTH grounds for disqualification. The US should've been disqualified. The ironic thing about this for Canada is that they would've gotten the bronze had the US been disqualified this time around for the exact same infraction that cost them the gold at the Olympics. As it turns out, I guess nobody protested though and Canada ended up with nothing in both races.

Nuke, any team/athlete is automatically disqualified if they step ON the line let alone over the line. The Americans should have been disqualified for Gatlin's error. During the 2008 Olympics, the Americans were disqualified during the 4x100 relay heat because Gaye stepped over on the line, and the same happened during the 200 meter final to Bolts friend Spearman, who was stripped of his bronze medal because he on the line.
