Everyone plays in the same conditions.
The losers seem to think it was insane to play in the drizzle while the winners didn't.

Speed: "The losers seem to think it was insane to play in the drizzle while the winners didn't."
To an extent, yes, but this was above and beyond when they are talking about potential back injuries, fans spending more time in the rain than watching games, etc.

Smith: How is the rain going to injure your back? Like Speed says. it sounds more like sore losers to me. I know it's a fair weather sport, but they get paid enough. Stop moaning and get on with it. Little bit of rain...honestly!

Not like the French to give up in adverse conditions!

Strange, the French are renowned for their temerity in adverse conditions.

(Halep) "To play in the rain is a bit too much. I was close to getting injured with my back... No one cares!"
That's but one comment of MANY complaints, with some players ignoring the orders of organizers and walking off the courts before starting. And how about complaints about how now the top players will have no breaks between games for those who go on in order that the tournament be finished Sunday? How's that being a "sore loser"?
"Little bit of rain"?? First day a tournament has been rained out for a complete day in years, and five other days have seen matches cancelled/delayed. Organizers are also losing thousands upon tens of thousands, if not more, in refunds and other costs.

Building a roof seems to be the resolution, but I don't think the organizers can get it built by yesterday, especially in France :) The other options are to cancel the tournament or let it run over schedule, but that will cause issues too.

Indeed, I too blame French Open organizers for the rain. They should have done something about that.
That's just math.

They can. Do you think Spring rain in Paris is a recent phenomenon ? They have the stadium since 1928. It has been extended to 10 times initial siez. So far, they have chosen to build all courts outdoor and without a roof. Then a couple of years ago, they decided the players were no longer waterproof, they've started saying "we need more space, so give us the nearby park to build courts roofs...". But neighbours want to keep their park. Big sport stadiums are normally build in suburbian empty fields. Not good enough for the delicate tennis crowd ?
There is no shortage of gymnasiums with roofs in the Paris area, they could move the games to other places when it rains. I guess they calculated that they would have to take less spectators and make less money.
They are not in the red. Don't worry for them. The organizers and players are full of dough, but they want to keep their cake and eat it.
